How old is the meter? Is it mechanical, electronic or smart?
Can you tell us the make and model, and/or share a photo?

Thanks for the photo. That's an Elster AS300P, a SMETS1 smart meter, unlikely to be more than ten years old.
    And it's definitely reading 43291kWh!
What are you doing this weekend? Do you have time for an enery audit, switching absolutely everything off at the consumer unit then turning circuits back on, one by one, while watching the flashing red LED on the meter like a hawk?

  • Hi,

Sorry to add to this as you have a number of people here already but we really want you to find the source of your electricity usage issue.

As someone else said what is your gas consumption as that may give some clues as to whether we should e asking for you to check for more electric supplied heating which is normally the big user.

  • Somethings not right here

You cannot have a tiny gas bill if you are heating 2500 sq ft and such high electric if you are not heating via electric

I live in a 2000 sq ft house two people working  from home and last years electric  was 2000 kwh. Gas central heating and gas kwh was over 5 times the electric. I consider us low energy users in a house of this size

It's 2017. The manufacture year in always at the front of the serial number, these days (well, the convention started last century)

Turn off the power and see if any neighbouring houses go dark.

It's shown in plain sight underneath 'Property of E.ON'.
