Tah_11 said:@Coupon-mad thanks for clarifying, I just checked that I need to appeal to the PALS first before making an appeal to parking company but the appeal time on the ticket is 28 days, which are basically up today (21 December).
@Le_Kirk yes I changed it because the penalty is because I stopped there for one minute.
Wondering how you got on with this ticket?
I have just got the exact same ticket. I pulled to the side after leaving the car park so I could set my Satnav before pulling out into the busy London traffic.
I was stopped for 90 seconds. Nobody left the car or entered the car.
Seems that this 'charge' is essesive in my opinion!0 -
Trouble is, your opinion is not a legal argument, a standard PCN charge is £100 and been that figure for over 12 years, with £85 ruled as not unconscionable 9 years ago at the Supreme Court, but different location and circumstances
But STOPPED is not PARKED
The private parking company definitely won't cancel the PCN
But PALS might do, if the vehicle was still on their property1 -
Which parking firm?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I will appeal to PALS.
The annoying thing is I'd just left a car park that I'd paid for. The car park at St Thomas's is crazy busy so as we were leaving there were cars waiting to take my space. I literally had no chance to pause before heading out of the car park.
Once past the car park barrier there is a ramp that heads up to the busy London roads, which I'm not familiar with. I pulled slightly to one side so as not to block anyone leaving the car park while I safely set up my SAT NAV before setting out.
Seems pretty unfair. If I have to pay it then so be it. It's not really about the money, it's about the fairness of it really.0 -
The vast majority of private parking company charges are considered unfair, but its currently an unregulated industry issuing around 14.6 million private PCNs per annum, typically at the £100 a time tariff
If you were in a paid parking spot within your time, set up the sat nav etc there, you paid for that time ( never stop on access or exit roads etc, too many cameras watching for any mistakes etc ) cameras are watching 24/7
Whilst we do understand the story, you have to treat parking companies as your sworn enemy, looking for any errors, weaknesses or reasons to give you a PCN, to the point of parking a silver car on no silver car days, they would even give you a PCN for a red car with silver trim2 -
You should not pay, you were not parked and the 'charges' are what they are....don't sweat that, it won't change much and they are truly unlikely to change their position - all they want is a quick buck so wait it out. The PALS route is plan A, do that....see what comes of it.4

Plan A in my earlier reply dealt with the issue you raised, plus it clarified the situation of stopping versus parking, plus the fact that the parking company is not going to cancel the PCN unless PALS tell them to do so, as the person who made this thread found out, but hasn't yet told us, or you , the outcome, so we cannot tell you that outcome !
My subsequent reply is in response to you feeling disgruntled about receiving the PCN plus the standard £100 charge on it, therefore my replies are telling you what you have to do about the current PCN and how to avoid them in future, otherwise you are doomed to receiving more PCNs in this countrywide situation2 -
