For most of the general public the IHD is expected and believed to be a simple real-time monitor of the meter, So they trust that the rate it says is true and that the usage is true, So lots of panicking people and calls to the provider are expected when its not correct.

Phones4chris.I’m on the new A system already.much prefer monthly bills too.put back on this morning and everything recording normal to what I Have on but still showing wrong useage for yesterday and data suspiciously missing off hub lol.but unlike Ayr rage my £10 wrong useage pales into insignificance to £2300🫣yikes.

mark in many thanks for the reassurance.was told will never have to go up a ladder again which I actually could easily at one time 🤷‍♀️as the display is accurate so obviously it s not.wouldn’t even know how to read it as it has two arced buttons and one in the middle of them and no instructions how to use it.we’ve have a few brief electric outages round here again lately so maybe that is linked but nothing in the last week where data is missing on the hub.also with economy 7 the ihd only shows the total electric useage and not day and night seperately which is a pain so just trust the bills are right when they come🤞

The usage should "catch-up" and correct itself because it's correctly stored in the Smart Meter. Unfortunately where EDF's systems might miscalculate the "cost" on the Energy hub when there's bugs, that won't necessarily get corrected BUT it doesn't affect your actual bill which will be correct (assuming it's based on real readings not estimates!).

That's the problem, IF your Smart Meter hasn't been loaded with the current/correct tariff, what the IHD will show as regards cost will be Wrong! Unless you know the meter has your correct current tariff you should ignore the cost figures on the IHD (and the meter itself!). The Usage in kWh should be correct though except when errors due to updates occur. Again it doesn't normally have any effect on the real bill.

Just download one of the mobile apps such as Bright or Hugo

You cannot rely on the cost information on Bright if the tariff on the meter is wrong!
Usage in kWh there or on n3rgy (which Hugo use iirc) should be correct.

You can now override it with your own custom customer tariff in the Bright app.

  • I do know that thanks, as will many of the geeks round here, but how many ordinary users will be aware that their tariff loaded on the meter is wrong, I suspect not as many as you might think!
