You could always do what I do, save it up & send it back in the pre-paid envelopes they helpfully provide.

    Hehehehe......:idea::wink:

    I do that too.
Occasionally I forget to check if it's pre-paid or not.
Serves 'em right if they have a small fine to pay.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
  • If Edna's method doesn't work for some reason (I suspect high staff turnover or temporary/contract staff), try putting the unaddressed "delivered by Royal Mail" back into their little red box.

As for Butterware/Kleensleeze, rip them in half and stick them out for recycling. IIRC the gullible people who do this scheme have to pay for the catalogues so the fewer that are used reduce their profitability and likelihood of continuing.
  • you could try this http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/ i used them for the telephone which worked great i get no more calls have not tried the junk mail bit but thats because i dont mind as the junk mail is kids mail it keeps them happy

i know this is not the leaflets but it might help.
    Still Trying :o

Have you all read Martin's Junk the junk: Stop unwanted calls, mail, texts and faxes artical?

And for those who are concerned about stopping junk calls consider adding you number to Silentcall-gard’s list to stop any silent calls you may receive. Your registration is for 12 months; if you wish to stay on the list simply re-register at the end of the 12 months

I've done most of this and have to say I'm totally satisfied. The only thing is you can't guarantee stopping junk mail, the stuff that isn't sent by Royal Mail.

My five year old loves doing this, sends all manner of junk to the companies lol
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

All the takeaway menus etc that my postman delivers to me, I put them back into the postbox. If they deliver them to me they can have the problem of getting rid of them.
My main hate though is the junkmail where they send you something to blackmail you into sending them money..pens etc...
I got a fleecy cat blanket this morning from IFAW...it's a waste of money surely to send these freebies out.
I do give to charity, but not one that tries to make me feel bad.
    Good Luck All
    :grouphug:..thanks to all Posters

  • It might be better if you print this out and send it to Royal Mail as they tend to take ages replying otherwise. That was my experience anyway.

    It's not changed much.

I can understand and put up with local (non-chain) businesses putting their own flyers through doors. Apart from shop frontage and ads in local papers it's a practical way of advertising their products or services.

I don't particularly like the idea of takeaway menus though; my attitude is that if they want me to visit their takeaway, they could give me some free samples or something and if I'm sufficiently impressed by quality/price/availability I might pick up a menu in case I wanted to order something.

A lot of the menus and local shops around here get theirs stuffed through the letterbox with the local free newspaper, not the Royal Mail post. Again, if you're passing their office, I reckon it's fair game to pop it back through their letterbox.

My pet hate isn't really direct mail, it's those tatty naff A5 "work from home" ads stuck all over lamp posts that prey on the vulnerable (and the stupid). Oh, and whoever produces TV ads for sofa companies, especially DFS, should be culled immediately.

    just for your information.
your postie doesnt like those unadressed junk mail items either ;)
dont do as one of my customers did and threw them in my face as i delivered them.
    we had a 'chat' ;)

door2doors in RM speak. believe me most would happily not do them but are required to.(sackable pffence not to!)

go with the opt out as posted in the thread.

RM are pushing for more of these items of 5+ per week.
be aware if you opt out you wont get the likes of election materials, local council newspapers and the likes.

also be aware its a competitive market with many other companys taking on contracts for d2d's.

as for 'proper' addressed junk mail.do not return it as gone away/not known etc as some people do.
as all i do then is start condemning all the mail for that person as for me im seeing they have moved out.
