i always add glycerine to the water/washing up liquid mixture , it gives quite a thick consistency hence a stronger bubble

Watching Nina and the Neurons (thank you Cbeebies) they made bubble mix using washing up liquid, water and sugar. Make sure the sugar has dissolved.

I think you have to use a high proportion of washing up liquid and TBH I think fairy produces the best bubbles :) Trial and error, too watery and it won't produce bubbles, the sugar helps to make the bubbles strong. Apparantly.

I had wondered what else must be in the mixture. I might try sugar first, not sure where to get glycerin, i suppose it might be in supermarkets as it is christmas season and is used in icing for christmas cakes.
    thanks thats great

  • Boots sell Glycerin as a basic cough syrup- about £1.20 for 100ml.

The glycerin in supermarkets is in teeny tiny bottles - the Boots bottle is much better value. The Asda pharmacy may have it.
