So, given that Skype has slowed my initial connection down and I'm getting loadsa ads/spam from Skype, I might just as well remove it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

You can call landlines with Skype.. AND you can set up a UK number that will forward to your skype address. This is very cool as it lets you be abroad and people call you on a mobile with no extra cost to anyone0

You say :-"You can call landlines with Skype.. "
I say, I can via Talktalk with NO charge, with Skype there would be a slight charge.

I say:- we will never have cause to be abroad again, doe to age in infirmity..
So really I installed something I wouldn't use, simply because I didn't know the facts. ThanksThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Because MSN Messenger has been notoriously bad at doing video & voice in the past (or some of us), and still is for some setups, but skype always seems to get thru
Plus skype does let the other end know you are trying to contact them0 -
So uninstall it. Big deal, what's the fuss? Skype does have a reputation for better call quality than MSN messenger.
You can also get 3 mobile phones that can call computers with Skype installed for free.
Just because a product doesn't suit your needs doesn't make it bad.0
