  • @AtifAwan430 my friends is over 22k! I cant believe they have done this. Have you had any other advice as to what the next steps are or are you just looking to pay the amount. I havent spoken to the high court enforcement yet..have you?

Mines called an interim charging order. The court will make decision to put charge on my house after 20/12.
  • @AtifAwan430 i have read people are completing n244 forms. Not sure if this is the way forward to avoid further action i.e. charging order
  • How do I get invited to the WhatsApp group?
  • As with many others who were duped into signing up to the CWI claims scam, my mother also signed up around 3 years ago. SSB Law dragged on the case for such a long time and built up extortionate costs that it was impossible to cancel it without being charged SSB LAW's costs. She had to stay with until they finally got a second surveyors report who said the damp was not extensive and the case cannot be won. Once the case was stopped, she was never told that the defendant's wanted £20000 in costs until an Interim Charging Order letter dropped through the letterbox one year after the end of the case.
SSB LAW said the original litigator left the company so they will submit a claim to the ATE insurance but they could refuse since the original final surveyors report were totally different. Their suggestion was to take the original surveyor to court if ATE fails to pay.

After waiting for ATE insurance for over 7 months another letter from the defendant's lawyer came which demands payment within 14 days. The ATE Insurance appears to have not paid and SSB LAW is not responding at all. My mother will be forced to pay the £20000. From what I've gathered from Trust Pilot and other sites, there is no way to get out of paying the defendants costs.

The only way would be if ATE insurance paid up but it looks like they can easily get out of paying by blaming it on the surveyor.

Only thing she can do is pay up and try to chase SSB LAW through the SRA or ombudsman. What a bunch of theives SSB LAW are.

If there is a whatsapp group can you please let me know. At least we may be able to share our experiences and knowledge.

    Hi

Suddenly from an unknown company I have got a Notice of enforcement letter  today, issued with Notices of Enforcement (after SSB Law failed to pay what they owed to insurers by the given deadline) and are now facing demands for £1000s with threats of bailiff visits?

Any advice on how to tackle this , and who to contact. Any WhatsApp groups as I’ve heard there’s many ppl affected by this

    thanks for any help

Please file for N244 form & send to nforcements.leeds.countycourt@justice.gov.uk. Call them to pay a fee of 14 pound on receival, you can get help with fees form as well if you feel your financial circumstances will allow.  On the form state stay of enforcement to buy some time to work out whats happened & show your financial situation that you cannot afford this payment. Currently i am stuck at a stage where they have asked me to fill out n245 form & not sure whether this means the charges will be dropped all together or suspended. If anyone on this forum knows further steps to this, please let me know!

SSB Law of Sheffield filed for administration on Monday 27/11/23 with debts of £48m arising from borrowing hugely to fund a failed gamble into taking up cases for homeowner compensation for damp problems resulting from incorrectly installed cavity wall insulation, with the big sell to sign up being that this was guaranteed to be on the basis of  'no win, no fee'. In our case, after 3 years of surveyor visits, inspections, innumerable 'please sign this form and return it to us' type emails, in March of this year, we were informed that my mother's case was being dropped as it wasn't strong enough to take to court with a realistic chance of a win and that that was the end of the matter. This certainly isn't proving the case as there are now 1000s of claimants who have been issued with Notices of Enforcement (after SSB Law failed to pay what they owed to insurers by the given deadline) and are now facing demands for £1000s with threats of bailiff visits. In the case of my 77 year old mother who has never owed a penny to anyone in her life, she was landed last week with a Notice of Enforcement for £18000 to be paid by 30/11/23. Today I completed a N244 form which, if approved, buys her 'breathing space' as the case is set aside for 60 days, though of course that's no solution, merely a deferral.
I have contacted my local MP over this and have become a member of a WhatsApp group of people in the same position as my mother. This case really needs to be brought to the attention of ANYONE who will listen as there are a lot of people not only feeling immense stress and anxiety over this, but also potentially financial ruin. If anyone has any ideas where to turn in order to get the story of this disgraceful situation caused by SSB Law given the exposure it deserves it would be much appreciated and needless to say, any advice on how to best deal with this would be highly welcome.

Please can you add me to this whatsapp group.
