Jamil @JN Law in Bradford managed to get me ahead of the county court process, so I was able to negotiate and settle their final costs bill which was £15k, the interim charging order was for £10k at the county court. But by settling directly I was able to finalise the defendants costs claim against me. It could be that you resolve an interim charging order but this is only part of the bill. It is so crucial that you get independent legal advice to help you get out of this mess. 

So did you manage to get a reduction in final settlement or did you actually pay the full £15K. If you paid in full then I don't see the benefit of dealing with the defendants via a solicitor. You could have just paid them without paying a solicitor to do it.

Yes, the total agreed budgeted costs were £22.5k and with Jamil’s help managed to get this down to £15k. This was because I avoided the county court process meaning the defendants solicitors were effectively getting all the costs with no further work. The wording used in the settlement offer email was crucial as it got a response within the hour and I received confirmation that no further action was being taken the next day followed up by a letter from the defendants solicitors.

Im in very simuar situation with this company where my case got closed off on the instruction of SSB LAW and a ATE was put into place to cover the defendants cost however i have now recieved a letter from Keoghts saying that i have outstanding cost of £19000 . I explained to them that the case has been closed off and should be contacting SSB law . The following date a recieved an email from SSB law saying that my file as been sent to JMR . I phoned  JMR they are awaiting for the files to be sent acrross and could comment on anything.I explained this  to Keoghts and sent them the email with the info that this has now gone over to JMR . The lady just said you have 7 days from today which is 25/01 to pay tghis up or ill be taking furter action your debt . can anyone help or guide me on where i stand
.I thought that the RSA had put a pause on this ???

It added it had "paused recovery of unpaid costs" when SSB Law "failed to respond to their clients' concerns" and was working to "find a way forward for all concerned".

SSB Law company has given me the biggest shock of my life when I received an enforcement letter through the post asking me to pay over £15000.

These people came knocking to my house telling me I shouldn’t have had cavity wall insulation in a terraced house and they entered me into a No Win No Fee agreement and advised me that they have an ATE insurance which would cover the defendants costs in the event the claim was unsucessful or if they advsied to discontinue.

They sent their expert surveyor to examine inside the walls with their devices and said there is a lot of damp in wall and I will have a strong claim, 3 years had past and they then claimed they lost the report and sent another surveyor to come and this time they said i don't have much damp inside my walls and told me I need to discontinue the case due to insufficient evidence. 

I still stayed calm and said ok thinking since it’s a no win no fee the matter will stop here but then I received this enforcement letter. 

I found out they've got a CCJ on me. They hid all the collection letters from me (that the claimant would have been sending them) and the only thing I got was high court enforcement letter. The claim handler at first was saying the finance director is aware and they are waiting for funds to come in and  that they will pay before the enforcement deadline, they surpassed that deadline and didn’t even attempt to liaise with the enforcement agency like they said they will. 

I will now have enforcement agents at my door ready to take my car and house goods. These people should be locked up, they obviously filling their pockets and getting ready for administration as seen on the news. We need to sue these corrupted people.

There are many people who have been SSB’s victims. Thousands are now likely to be owing tens of thousands of pounds in costs from defendants because they have discontinued so many cases. I am now part of a WhatsApp group that are all victims of SSB LAW. I have complaint to the company house they are registered to. I have reported them to Legal ombudsman, SRA, The Law Society and sent an email to my Local MP.

I have applied for N244 and managed to get the writ of control stayed which pauses the enforcement action till the 8th December when I have a hearing at the court. Then the judge will decide if the judgement needs to be set aside. You guys also have an option to ring CAB and get breathing space for 60 days.

I have same story and received CCJ. Can you help me to fill N244 form please because I'm not sure how to complete this form.

Hundreds of small firms who had done nothing wrong were buried in litigation from customers who were happy and had no complaints. No sure why they signed up on the basis of a sales call.

Hi, im also a victim of the ssb law cavity wall insulation compensation scheme and know of others too. I’ve received a bill from dwf on behalf of the defendant.  Ive been in touch with ssb law who have stated that files are still being transferred to JMR who will take on the case and submit costs to ATE provider. I dont believe them. seems like we are stuck with the bill and have to find a way of paying it. any advice or support will be appreciated.

I hope you will also be speaking to others to have a more balanced BBC view on this matter. The insulation Assurance Authority maybe a good place to start to have a  view from the insulation industry on these matters and the circumstances of how the claims came about. The insurance companies who also have been defending these claims such as RSA and AXA may also have a few points of interest relating to the conduct of the claims and the actual merits of them in the first instance.
