I must be a member of the mean mummy club then - lol. If DD doesn't eat a meal it's nowt until next one. This happens very rarely TBH, she's a very plain eater, but we normally get between 3-5 portions of fruit and veg in daily.
She doesn't really like chocolate and sweets and has eaten very little this christmas. The fruit bowl is always there and she can have anything she wants from that during the day.

if one of my kids wanted to be a veggie then fine by all means i will not force them to eat meat, but i will not prepared them a substitute i will give them everything we have except the meat iyswim, they can jut have the veg if they want something different they can jolly well get a job pay and cook it for themselves, i cook 1 meal for the family so they either eat it or wait until the next meal no snacking, i am horrified that people allow their kids to be in charge at mealtimes, a friend of mine has 5 kids and at tea time they all want something different so she spend a good 2/3 hrs cooking full meals for each brat, i just wanna shake her and shout your the adult and they are all under 14yr old kids so act like their mum not their slave
btw there is no way my kids could go veggie they couldnt give up their bacon butties lol
even my 2 yr old looks at sheep and instead of going aaawwwww she says yuuuuuum :rotfl:If we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

I hae 4 children. The eldest (14) has Aspergers syndrome and has a slightly self imposed restricted diet. He eats most things but doesn't like to try new things. If i am cooking something new I will put a small ammount on his plate and ask him to try it, the rest of his meal will be something I know he will eat. My eldest dd (12) has been vegetarian for 2 years. I provide a cooked meal for her each day. Normally an adjusted version of what we eat - chicken casserole with quorn chicken, spag bol with soya mince. I do keep some frozen meals for her as a fall back. Next dd (11) eats basically everything, has decided recently she doesn't like sausages so with have what ever alternative her sister has that evening. Youngest DD (7) is a bit picky, will eat most things but has to have "fairy" dinners as if faced will a full polate she can't eat any of it. If a meal is left nothing extra is offered. Youngest leaves her plate on table to return to later if not enough has been eaten.
I think I strick a happy medium, mostly home cooked, some "junk" all children are encouraged to help with menu planning, they normally chose a meal each week. Vege daughter is given menu plan and asked to work her menu out with me so I don't have to cook totally different meals for herHoping to stick to the challenge this year!!

You know I think stressed mum and frogga have summed it all up admirably. We all try to find the best way for our children which isnt necessarily the SAME way . Maybe this thread has run its course now............!0
