BT to EE change

As BT broadband are changing everyone over to EE broadband. Does anyone know if the old BT contract with end.
Will I be able to refuse the change and start fresh with a cheaper broadband deal.

No, its a rebranding exercise, unless the change also involves a change to the service1

I'm guessing that if you look hard enough in the small print that BT can assign the contract to whomever they like providing it doesn't actually disadvantage you
Here it is - paragraph 2828. Transferring the agreement
The agreement is only between you and us. You cannot transfer it to anyone else or try to do so. We can transfer the agreement, and our rights and obligations under it, to anyone else (including if we reorganise the way we work), as long as it doesn't have a negative effect on your rights.30
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
TBH , there have been many ISP that have ‘sold’ their entire customer base to another provider, and unless something fundament changes , its not an excuse to leave penalty free , if the only difference is the name on the bill , it’s a little unrealistic to expect to be excused from a minimum term for this minor change .1

Having checked the BT Group website I see that BT broadband will be BT Business Broadband & EE will be proving Residential Broadband plus a mobile phone network. I am currently being 'invited' to upgrade to EE broadband but have no plans to do this until my existing contract ends in Oct '24. I am waiting to see if & when they themselves force the change.0

This is likely due to them being able to “pre-order” whilst the fibre connection is completed, no other provider appears to have this option.
I called EE as after looking around I was planning on ordering through EE for the sim only discounts, they couldn’t proceed and used BT to submit the order but still honoured the sim only discounts of unlimited data, 100 Mbps for £13 a month.I imagine they’ll offer to switch me over to EE after the setup is complete but I’ll see what they offer as initially get 3 months free and no set up costs etc.0 -
Bt playing a good game. My Broadband contract runs out Feb 2024, on calling them they said I could switch to EE for £5.00 less per month plus 3 months free. But looking at the new EE contract it does not include Norton which is included in the current price. I have to add it at £5.00 per month. So back to full price.
My mobile contract can be transferred to EE but I lose roam like home, I spend 60 days away in Europe each year, so don't want the EE contract as they charge £2.00 for roaming. They said I could keep my mobile with BT but I will lose the £5.00 discount as I will be switching my BT Broadband to EE therefore not a BT customer anymore. I can't cancel the mobile as I have another year on that contract, they will charge me up to 80% of that year. If I keep BT as my Broadband provider I will have to pay an out-of-contract fee of £5.00 per month.
They are making it so hard for me to stay as a customer at a good price. I am thinking of cutting my losses in Feb and switching to someone who may care about their customers. When I signed the contracts it was one company. Now they are holding me to ransom with 2 companies and forcing me to pay more money and lose benefits. They seem legally covered by their right to fine me if I cancel.
I spoke to 3 different BT people yesterday and they all gave me different advice and prices and the amount that I will be charged for leaving my contract. No one seems to know the rules. It's impossible for a customer.
Has anyone switched yet? or faced this problem

BT is eventually only going to be a business ‘brand’ , the mass market domestic ( residential ) brand of BT Group is going to be EE , ( where Plusnet fits in is unclear ) in the transitional period there may be some less than ideal outcomes ,but there are also some ‘benefits’ , I had BT mobile , and moved to EE , my broadband is still with BT , my ‘data allowance’ on mobile was doubled by EE , as I’m classed as having broadband with EE ( although it’s actually BT )

Would I be correct in thinking that the switch will make no actual difference to speed, reliability etc as it will be using the same connection and hardware it currently uses be it in the street or in my home ?0
