I painted the equivalent of 2 panels of privacy fence at the front. It then threatened to rain so I came in. I found that restful and was reluctant to stop. I know I struggle if I over-cram my brain with reading fiction or even watching utube or whatever... Apparently being dyspraxic on top - means part of the reason I struggle with sleep is my brain is still processing what a normal person would have processed during the day...beanielou said:The robot is great. Other things
If I don't get the shoes return label tomorrow - I'll have to chase that - and take the other two back for now so I at least start the refund process for £202 of the £280ish that I'm expecting back.
Achieved today- Worked part time
- Put some washing away
- Painted equivalent of 2 fence panels
- Collapsed a box from the front room
- Unpacked the dishwasher and loaded in today's items
- Fed the birds - and took time to notice blackbirds, a robin and a magpie
- Deleted a few hundred unread emails and unsubscribed to some sites to reduce their volume
- Updated my £. Noticed that I'd been paid another £3+ in interest. It all helps
- Mortgage went out today - so owe about £650 less on my principal

About the robot, as it has been un-used for a while plug it in somewhere on its base. Anywhere. Baby steps to using it and they need to charge. If mine didn't have a full charge it would sail under a piece of furniture and bleep to say it was flat and turn off (they really are fabulous, like having a little robotic pet!)
Just do that and the mental block will start to clear.
For the cleaner, have you though about phoning the agency and saying you would feel better with the same person each week and if the person they sent initially can't be that is there anyone else? Agency cleaners seem to have a high turnover in my limited experience.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Morning SH - what a lot you’ve achieved recently, and not least how fabulous that bit of garden is looking - lovely! I’d love to have room for a bit more “pretty” planting but that’s a compromise we’ve had to make so we’re trying to make sure that some of what we grow for food is also pretty - we’ve got Rainbow a hard coming on as that always cheers up a veg bed, and of course things like beans, courgettes etc have lovely flowers so that will help. I have noted your comment from my diary about the radish flowers too - one to ponder on!Pleased to hear that work have been good about the phased return and that you are coping with that OK.It does feel a little like you sometimes miss your overall achievements so Inthink your list of “things achieved” is a good idea - but be cautious you don’t get into a self-competitive loop of always trying to make that a longer list. Definitely a good way of getting a better focus on all the things you can do rather than the things you might struggle with though! On emptying the “Jaws” bucket, I still sometimes have a complete mental block when I get it to the bin and turn it on rather than using the button that empties it! I’ve had mine ages now too so clearly that one isn’t going to go away!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I love my robot vacuum - he mops too! Had him for 3 plus years but he does like getting cornered in one spot of my bedroom ..
the garden looks fabulous
my system might help on the focus and the to do overwhelm
I have a huge whiteboard with 4 columns and use sticky notes - based on AGILE SCRUM
- I use it for home but it’s a work productivity thing
-far left column -BACKLOG all My wish /need to do tasks (added as big singular notes eg decorate lounge, build garage, etc
-left column TO DO to do this week or this fortnight with those tasks I have chosen to tackle now with more details eg declutter lounge, choose paint, decide on flooring, book contractors, budget for work etc -- MIDDLE column DOING - this is where I have picked up a sticky note eg choose paint and am working on that task
-RIGHT column - DONEThen at end of the week or two week period you can see where you atDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks EH - good caution on not getting into competition with myself...
Sounds like your garden is coming on a treat. My current garden has lots of herbs, some strawberry plants, blackcurrant bushes and 2 apple trees in pots. Once I've got some of the plants currently in pots into the ground - I'll potentially have some opportunity to grow veg in pots. By my standards this is a small garden so not as much room for veg growing as the last house. My priority has been to establish some year round colour and flowers so far!
I've worked. Had a good chat about my phased return. I've painted a few more fence panels and one side of my mini shed. I've also done some hoovering today. I've collapsed a box from the front room.
I need to chase the footwear return label.
LWAP that's a good idea on the board...
The garage conversion quote came back much higher than I wanted to pay - and an awful lot higher than his verbal quotes. I'll carry on with the smaller stuff for now - that I can do like fence painting. Work the handyman can do like the spindles on the banisters and moving the washing machine and dryer. Then perhaps see about getting an electrician in to look at the fuse box and what they can do to get electric into the garage and inner store...
If I'm not doing the garage for now though - I want to up my pension... Still debating everything.
I've invited sis's family to come at some point over the weekend. Hopefully that will work out...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
