Did you figure out if the HM or the IHD was more accurate?PennineAcute said:
Thank you for that. Got cold and wet for about 10 minutes (meter's outside) and I found this option. It ties in with my current usage.
I believe the HM refreshes every minute where as the IHD refreshes every 10 seconds.EssexHebridean said:HM refreshes every 10 seconds, I think?
That's tonight's little project, weather permitting.

My HM definitely refreshes more often than once a minute - and checking the "last 5 minutes" screen it suggests that every 10 seconds would be right.
I did notice a definite discrepancy between HM and IHD yesterday myself though so it's interesting that this topic has been raised. And no - I wasn't able to work out which of the two had the greater accuracy either!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Unless they both refresh at the exact same time it's unlikely that they will ever match as consumption is changing constantly in most households. Both will probably be fairly accurate for that split second of data they show.
You could switch off everything in your household except one device that has a constant draw (lamp?) and see if they show the same reading then but that's a big PIA to do. In the end, it doesn't really matter because the amount on the meter is what you will pay for.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Yes, I don't feel any particular draw towards wanting to do any further research into the question I confess. From memory the difference in mine was relatively small - it was consistent though, it showed with that difference throughout the couple of minutes I was looking at both.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

The minimum reading on my OHM seems to be 50Wh so I don't get pretty usage graphs from either the 30 minute or 5 minute break down, just a series of intermittent lines. What does the minimum reading seem to be for others?
Also, I'm going to be controversial and suggest that the mini updates more quickly / frequently than the IHD.4.3kW PV, 3.6kW inverter. Octopus Agile import, gas Tracker. Zoe. Ripple x 3. Cheshire0 -
I have a little 5Wh on our live usage right now, surrounded by other single digit ones and then it went up to double digits at 3.11pm (heat pump kicked in, maybe?)70sbudgie said:The minimum reading on my OHM seems to be 50Wh so I don't get pretty usage graphs from either the 30 minute or 5 minute break down, just a series of intermittent lines. I don't know yet if the mini updates more frequently or not. If I'm looking at the live usage page, the power draw updates itself between 45s and 1m, so to get that to refresh sooner I have to go to a different app page then back. I've not yet tested whether it refreshes in under 10s by doing that though.0 -
Note the mini has two modes for live usage, by default it shows a slower refresh mode with a longer history, you can make it show a shorter history, and then it refreshes much more often.2

Realistically does it matter, energy flows and it doesn’t stop so you can take its piccy, plus it doesn’t say ok I’ll do this for the next 1hr/minute/second or even the next nanosecond.**

Ohhhh that explains it! Thanks, yes I was on the 30mins page, on 5mins it's refreshing every … I don't actually know, but much more often. Maybe 15secs?Chrysalis said:Note the mini has two modes for live usage, by default it shows a slower refresh mode with a longer history, you can make it show a shorter history, and then it refreshes much more often.
[And I've got there a little 2Wh bar, going back to a previous question/comment.]1 -
