    Underneath it all, the authenticator app adds no security over an SMS text code.

    I have been with Cynergy Bank for several years (Bank of Cyprus before that) and have at times had difficulty in logging in. But even then, normally after 2, 3 or 4 attempts I managed to logon in the end.

    In recent times I have had less problems, other than changing my mobile handset a while ago. That took longer than it should have to re-register again.

    FYI, Cynergy have a new banking app to download for iOS and Android, released recently.

    While it's clearly still a work in progress, one MAJOR annoyance is it's only available on just *TWO devices at a time*(!), for reasons unknown. So people like me with two phones and three iPads are affected and stuck with only having access on some devices we may not have on hand at any one time. Bad decision. 

    Dunno why Cynergy thought that limitation was a good idea, given other banking apps either have no limit at all or a ~10 device limit – especially given there are often two people who want access to an account for joint accounts and suchlike, each with maybe a phone and tablet.

    But there we have it, better than nothing. 

    (NOTE: You still need the previous Authenticator app for logging in to online banking through a browser. So keep it around. Maybe they'll fix that or otherwise incorporate it into the new app eventually. Who knows.) 
  • My 2 year bond just matured. I never did manage to register for online access when I opened it - the Authenticator App kept saying ‘No Authenticator image in view’ or similar so I gave up. Today it took me half an hour, 3 SMSs and 4 scans with the app (now working, just about), address, date of birth, account number (fortunately to hand) to transfer the balance out and close the account. As soon as it lands in my current account I can breathe a sigh of relief and delete the lot….

    Think you've just been unlucky - I have several accounts with Cynergy and not had a problem with logging on.

    Admittedly their authentication process is different to most, but I found that once you've got the hang of it, it was fine.
