That's understandable, I suspect most of the 'heavy lifting' is going to come from those able to export significant amounts rather than those reducing consumption.
… but even small amounts of savings across a few thousand people can still add up…

Would have to be many thousands of people making savings for it to be anything like significant.
I left Octopus for the MSE negotiated fix with BG last year. BG's half price electricity between 11am and 4pm every Sunday is much more significant to me as a customer compared to the 2 or 3p I could save with Octopus, and it takes hardly any effort. No solar panels or batteries here, just a typical dual fuel house. We just leave the dishwasher and washing machine to the cheap period if we can. In May we saved £2.40 over four Sundays. In a typical day we use a little under 10kWh, so not a high user. May's savings equates to about 27kWh of half price electricity over 20 hours of savings periods. Some we would have used anyway, but the extra probably was down to load shifting, and very little effort.

I didn't notice the later timing on the last one, so didn't bother. I've opted in for tonight as my cheap cooking spot has been between 7 and 8 lately, so I might actually make some saving by eating later.

Yorkshire's in again. The battery actually discharged last night 7-8 too, I'd forgotten to switch it back after Wednesday's session, duh. We managed to cling on though, 11% left at 7am this morning, there was just enough sun to start dribbling a few watts back in. Enough to boil the kettle anyway ☺️
