Sadly I think you need "official" export with a MPAN etc. before it counts, otherwise Octopus can't get export readings from your meter.

For me at least, they just serve to guide when I will export, I'm going to export anyway so why not do it when they pay a bit more for it…

I got 200 points last time, plus about 26p for the export, so effectively it doubles the rate they pay for export.

I always opt in, then if I happen to use less it's a bonus but if I don't, then it doesn't really matter.

I opt in but more out of habit than anything else. I generally use as near to nothing as possible in peak hours anyway so it's never going to be a big earner for me, but in the olden days I used to actually switch off at the mains and really make an effort …

Opt in for the 16 points that is better than nothing. For doing nothing different. Short of turning power off can not use any less power. But having a ev means average usage is higher.
