Oh dear, that sounds bad. Be interesting to hear how the builder sees it.

.... under the concrete are concrete beams (so no power tools can be used or they may shatter) and the walls are on top of the beams !!
Makes no sense to me. If it's beam&block, then there have to be about 10cm insulating boards under the screed. And "power tools" aren't all the same. Some are very gentle.

Sorry - you are correct about the insulation
but still, absolutely nothing from the builder - who are BIG players in the local area (not fly by night)
The OH wants me to leave it and wait to see how long they take to contact us
    I want to "kick off"
    OH wins

Surely all they need to do is screed to get the levels / fall right, give it time to dry then the latex, no need to take the floor up.

  • Sorted ?
It turns out to have been caused by a spat between the builder and latex installer - a long term disagreement - which boiled over in a customer (our) home....
They found another latex installer - who poured this morning - it should be dry enough to walk on in a couple of hours...
Just one issue remains - this is supposed to be a "wet room" - so why is the floor level with no slope to a drain at all ??

That would not have worked - levels would have been out - this is an accessible wet room, with wheelchair access - so, a step up from the house would not have been suitable

Ask the builder. There must be some slope, albeit very small.

How do you get a slope with poured latex ?
it finds it own flat level....

Where is the drain for the shower? the floor MUST/SHOULD have a slope on it towards the drain to stop the room from flooding out the bathroom door.

So does any paint. How do you paint vertical walls or ceilings?
I don't know as I never worked with liquid latex. Is it the final finish? I thought it was vinyl, not latex.
I can only guess that it's viscous, the layer is thin enough and the screed is porous/absorbent.
