I had a good day at work - busy and it flew by. Had my flu jab in one arm and the covid jab in the other. First time I've had them at the same time....so we'll see how that pans out. Last year the covid vaccine knocked me off my feet for a couple of days. At least it's the weekend so I have three days to recover if required. 🤞 it's not required.
hmm.. my Pa was ill for over a week after they did that.. he would have been better off taking his chances with getting the actual illnesses lol... I hope you fare better.
Patience and spoons for today are gone!
Kitchen mopped due to drunken birthday girl pee.. and mat in the WM..
Back room to vacuum and wash carpet later..
DW needs doing and the girls floor is covered in laundry I am NOT picking up.
Wrapping paper delivered.. they gave me 18 seconds to get from upstairs to the front door.. and by the time I got there they were driving off.. no card left or anything.. I have to check on the door camera where it was left! ... in the recycle bin ... disgusting!!

5 weeks till the shortest day - not that I'm counting or anything.
Has anyone had any success / failure with SAD lamps? Just wondering if they will help lift my mood.
Flying has happened:
WUDUPA
WMx1 - maybe more later
Meds ordered and sorted for next week
Computer emails, files, folders sorted & deleted
Recycling sorted & taken to tip
Decluttering has happened - 20 year old camel-backs chucked;15 year old leather handbags heaved - all well past the resell / recycle stage
Finance spreadsheets up-dated
Talking SAD lamps - what about "light" alarms that wake you up in the morning - has anyone had any experience?

I like tech.. I had one when they first came out.. a phillips one.. it was so faffy to use.. and I stayed asleep.. I do sleep like the dead though so a herd of trumpetting elephants in tap shoes could have danced on my head and I just snore on.thriftyscotslass said:Talking SAD lamps - what about "light" alarms that wake you up in the morning - has anyone had any experience?

This is the worst time of year for me, and I find my SAD lamp very helpful. I use it for about an hour before breakfast, when I'm sat at my computer with my second cuppa (I take the first back to bed with me while I catch up on the news, so that I can wake up slowly). I find that I concentrate far better with the lamp.thriftyscotslass said:5 weeks till the shortest day - not that I'm counting or anything.

I spent most of yesterday baking again, and today I have finished decorating the coffee cake and packed most of the things that I am taking to DS2 tomorrow - Christmas pud, ingredients for lasagne, a blanket, the blackberry plant that J dug up out of my garden a fortnight ago, an adaptor for a computer add-on, a large book of Mozart piano sonatas, and other random bits. This morning I had to work through the notes of yesterday's Eco Church meeting (just myself and a man who is the archetypal environmentalist and wanted to invite a speaker from Extinction Rebellion to his church - their church council turned the idea down). I made a tasty mushroom and beef soup for lunch (ie the last of the mushrooms cooked in the leftover stew gravy
), the kitchen has been tidied and cleaned, and Rosie had her walk once the rain had stopped. That's about it, really.
Off to cook risotto and watch Strictly.

late to bed last night then up early this morning to go to a co-op distribution centre to hold a big cheque and smile. We’ve already had the money by bank transfer.
Went to mums to check her hurt leg and reassure her that she doesn’t need to go to hospital…. made a couple of lemon drizzle cakes and ironed. Had a 40 winks.
In bed at 10 because i’m still tired.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Went to the shops for a few things. Came back and prepared lunch and washed up. I had some mud on my shoes yesterday and dried bits came off as I was coming up the stairs to vacuumed those up. After lunch went out with A who wanted to go to a cash machine, then to a wine shop to get some wine and then to a bakery to get one of their nice and ery large cheese straws, which we shared as a pre-supper snack. Finally we went to to the recycling bins at the park to get rid of two broken electric toothbrushes. Back to make tea and then put on a chicken casserole for A's supper ( I had a veggie meal). My shirts and the duvet cover came back from the laundry and I put them away. Watched Strictly then had supper, washed up and now time for the final eye medication and then bed.

- weather didn't look conducive to a swim from inside, but it was milder/less wet when I surveyed the big outdoors from the porch, so I went and had a good swim; a couple of degrees warmer than last week though less pretty as overcast.
- dropped in to get a paper and a couple of bits & bobs on my way home. Went to look at curtains, found some I liked but they didn't have the right size.
- read gas meter, sent both readings off and updated spreadsheet. Was horrified at the amount of electricity we'd used this month until I noticed that I'd not put in October's readings.
- Spent ages with Mr N sorting out his vehicle insurance. Long story but he used to have car, motorbike and breakdown all on one policy. However the company were....unhelpful on the phone, hence an afternoon on TCB to find him more deals. Success and so far £22 cashback received plus more pending.
- Went via TCB to find the right sized curtains - success. Ordered.
- Transferred a lot of the TCB savings to an Amaz00 voucher hence getting another 2%. 2 items now sitting in basket will be free (Mum will repay me for her carpet cleaner and the other is a book for BIL for Christmas).
- Wrote a short introductory letter to our new sponsor child (in India). Messaged charity organiser (a friend) to see if we can drop letter and his card round to her tomorrow as she is going to India next week.
- Got Christmas cards as far as the dining room table, will update list tomorrow.
- put yesterday's washing away
I'd hoped to do a few more things today but the time seemed to go. More on the list for tomorrow but I may just check out tomorrow's church reading in case of any tricky words, plus file away last report and start the next.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.13 -
Son has passed his germs to me and I feel shocking

Morning all,
A slow start to the day. I need to get my act together and get something off a any list. If I can find the lists, of course. Can I declare today National List Writing Day, if anyone would care to join?
I have changed DD’s bedding, so wm x 1 is on, no idea how long it will take to get that load dry though. I pulled together a meal plan last night for the next 2 weeks. No doubt that will fall apart very quickly, but it is something to work from.
Next stop, bathroom cleaning. Unless I can find those lists and get settled into the list zone.
Have a good day all. I hope that all poorlies start to feel better soon x12
