Hugs to those who need them xxx
I've been quite productive today.
Pottered around this morning swishing and swiping.
Sorted another hotspot in the kitchen
Went out just before lunch and bought jam and tomatoes.
Came home, did lunch then decided to tackle the ironing which took ages
Then I needed to get a load of wood indoors before the wet weather arrives (again!) so never made the scones because by the time they were cooked it would be far too close to dinner. BUT I can make them tomoz and will look forward to it...
I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Finally! Feet up in front of the wood burner with a glass of gin...TFIF...might have to kick my slippers off though as it's about eleventy hundred degrees in here now!
My weekend is already looking packed with football duties, including manning the tea stall on Sunday, which will be miserable in the current weather conditions, so I'm looking forward to that. Can't it just be freezing cold rather than wet and windy and grey and horrid?
Not sure if my procrastination is just me being lazy or a result of feeling overwhelmed with everything, but I think it's getting worse. No energy or inclination to do anything productive. Instead I doom scroll all evening...any ideas on how to become remotivated?
Totally forgot it was Red Nose Day at school until I got an email saying how the children had enjoyed dressing up (oops) and how much money was collected (double oops). Ah well, I'm sure Tiny didn't want to wear a spotty outfit anyway lol
Just watched a traumatic video about a young father who got trapped during a pot holing/caving adventure and died upside down after a mammoth 27 hour struggle to free him. I've honestly never understood these crazy people...I get claustrophobic in the pantry, let alone squashed into a 12" wriggle space. It's a no from me...also bungee jumping, sky diving, swimming with whales, sharks or sting rays and expecially deep sea diving and/or exploration. DH is a scuba diver and I'm terrified every time he goes in the water - imagining what hideous things could go wrong. Anxiety is high now, which is my own fault. Gah!8 -
Mine took 7 months to sort out, but in fairness I was transferring some of a 'frozen' pension from a previous job over to a local financial company. The actual pension and lump sum which was left in the original workplace pension account wasn't paid out until everything else was sorted. Just as well I applied for it at the end of last year but kept working (my 65th was in April).soappie said:
One thing I do need to do is phone my pension company to find out why they haven't written to me about sorting out my pension now I've retired... I don't know how long these things take...
Today has been reasonably productive:
- went for a run
- 2 loads washing done including spare room bedding
- downstairs had the little tidying it needed done, ready for a friend who came round to ask me about dyslexia.
- made a fruit crumble to take to another friend for dinner tonight (we go round to his and listen to music; he provides music, soup and bread and we bring pudding and chocolate. Please note in the light of yesterday's non-fitting dress, I only had 2 after 8 mints).
- finished and emailed a report
- checked carpet cleaners (VAX type) for Mum online as John L had been most unhelpful when she went in.
- Mr N swept a load of leaves and started moving plants away from the conservatory area so the builders won't damage them.
- read electricity meter. Must do gas one tomorrow.
- about to go to bed and write list of things to do for the weekend.
- measured my study window as although I have a blind and some net-like curtains, I think thicker curtains would maybe help the coldness of the room in winter. Faint hope as our house is just cold whatever we do.
The weather forecast isn't brilliant for tomorrow's lake swim.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
Went out and bought the paper and posted a card to our elderly friend in Plymouth. Got A's lunch ready early as I wasn't going to be here at lunchtime. Put the bedding on to wash. Met my friend who wants a headstone and we went to two stonemasons. The second one didn't look that far from the first and my 83 year old friend said she would have no problem walking. Unfortunately she did but was determined to press on but it took us ages to get there. That stonemason was directly opposite a cemetery so he took us in so that we could see the difference in look between her two favoured options matte granite and slate - the latter being three times the price. We could hardly tell the difference. We then went back to his office for some more discussion and finally left at 2.30.I ordered an Uber to take us to my car, as neither of the stonemasons is in my borough so I would have had difficulty parking. My friend then wanted to go for something to eat and to various shops. I then had to drive her to somewhere where she could easily get a taxi home (she doesn't use Uber) and wait with her until one came, at which point she suddenly decided she wanted to go into the chemist we were outside!By the time I got home it was nearly 5. At half past 5 I suddenly remembered that the laundry man was coming between 6 and 7 and I hadn't dried the bedding. I quickly put the duvet cover in the TD and hoped he wouldn't come before it was fairly dry. Fortunately he didn't. I then washed up the lunch dishes (a surprising amount given it was just A's), prepared supper washed up again and administered eye medication (the afternoon one was missed because I was out so long, which I never normally am). I then made up the bed. After that I looked online for a v neck jumper which was made from British wool and made here too, which proved to be impossible. You can get other neck types that fit both those criteria but not a v neck. In the end I had to settle for made in England but with wool from Australia/NZ. I tried my new electric toothbrush which felt a if it were going to rip my gums to shreds as the heads bristles seem too hard. I hope they soften up with use.Now time for bed. Zzzzzzzz10

Morning all xx
Not slept too well as my left arm (covid jab) is sore and I usually sleep on my left side. Thankfully my right arm (flu jab) is fine and I could lie on it....but the constant temptation to turn onto my left side was not conducive to sleep. Anyhoo. I've not suffered the adverse reaction to the covid jab that I had last year when it wiped me out for two days. So I'm up, made my bed, brought down the laundry hamper and I'm supping my first brew.
To Do Today List
Get dressed
Feed the birds
Put out the recycling
Sort laundry into loads
Set first load swishing
WUDUPA
To Do List
Fill up with petrol
Display parking permit on windscreen
Buy Christmas presents
Write Christmas cards
On my mind - pending
Arrange for smart meters to be fitted (but not until gas account is running smoothly again
Get a quote from J next door to have security gates fitted (making the back of the house private and more secure.)
Get a quote for removing/ cutting back the massive conifer in the back garden. Sorry wood pigeons...but tis now taller than the house and will only get taller.
Brain dump 🙃 There's lots more ideas floating through my synapses but they're the frontrunners at the moment.
First week back at work after my Annual Leave has been fine....but I do wonder how much that is due to my supervisor being on Annual Leave. Which isn't nice of me, but others have said the same. Anyhoo it's weekend and I'm cabinned in with my flyfriends and about to make another brew. Who could ask for more 😊

Morning all
@Narc0lepsy I did phone the pension people. It seems my employer hasn't informed them I've retired! The lovely lady said to leave it until the middle of December and if nothing's been sent by then to get back in touch. Did try to call my ex-employer but there's only one contact number and no-one bothered to answer! I'll dig out a letter I recently received that has a name on it and will try phoning that name on Monday.
Seriously wet and blustery here this morning so minimal flying will be done unless the weather dramatically changes.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Gah!Remotivation - organise things you enjoy doing for yourself as a matter of urgency, rather than thinking you must do everything you should do before you can do the things you enjoy.I used to scuba dive and absolutely loved loved loved it. It's pretty safe if you take safety very seriously, and dive with a buddy who can be trusted. Nothing on God's green earth would be me potholing, bungee jumping, skydriving, or swimming with sharks but I would give a lot to dive with whales, although I note that all the film I've seen of people diving with them are free-divers, not scuba divers. I am not and would never freedive to any depth. I once dived with an instructor who loved riding rays, but that wouldn't be my thing at all - take photos and leave bubbles. That was it for me. Sharks are always best avoided in my opinion.Back from holibobs in Glasgow and had a wonderful time, other than I picked up a hideous cold which I'm struggling with. It's already not as bad as it was for the first two days but the cold meds I used to take have been removed from the market so I'm feeling it a bit. We burned the candle at both ends up there and are planning a very lazy weekend. The house looks exactly as a house would after five or six days of two cats rampaging around, !!!!!! off at having no-one at their beck and call. Need to vacuum and it'll look fair enough, but even that can wait.Better is good enough.10 -
Morning Afternoon all. Whoops, that’s another morning lost then.
2 steady days at work (am quite partial to a 2 day week, it seems), a couple of nights in the WAC, DD delivered safely back to uni city by DH, friends round for dinner last night. That wasn’t my best move as it was like something off Ready Steady Cook by the time that I got home from work. But all seemed happy enough to stay around the table until gone midnight. This morning has been spent doing various bits:
WUDUPA a couple of times
kitchen surfaces wiped, floor swept
wm x1 - just finishing
sorting out bunches of flowers that I have been given over the past week
dinner for this evening in the sc, really, really want roast potatoes for some reason, so will do some of those and maybe a sneaky crumble (just to use the oven space efficiently, you understand…)
Not sure about the rest of the day - I need to sort out my lists, as they seem to be taking on lives of their own. Maybe make a list of lists….no, that’s getting silly 🤔…
ClothofGold - have you tried Community Clothing? Maybe that is where you ended up in your jumper search anyway. Just a thought.
Hugs to all, stay dry and have a lovely day x10
