I have also pretty much decided to take out Beauty and Weekly spends money out in cash and try cash stuffing.

I am still pondering about food shops as get them online so can’t pay in cash.

Also wondering how I will pay for travel as that comes out of my £100 a week. Some
weeks I go 3 days a week. Other weeks 1 or 2 and when I’m not very well then I wfh (I’ve been doing that a lot due to my issues).
  • Not boring to read at all. It's great tracking people's progress.
  • You're doing amazing! Even though it's tough you're sticking at it and that's exaxtly what will get you through!!

Thank you guys. I have decided how the cash stuffing will work in regards to travel or anything else that I might need to pay by card. I will write a note and move the relevant cash amount into a “paid by card” envelope. Then when I withdraw the next lot of money I will take out less that amount and move the cash back into the other envelope. So for example I took £100 for my week 1 and then in week 1 I’ve spent £20 on my card, I’m taking that £20 out of my weekly spend and moving it into “paid by card” envelope. Then next week I will take out £80 instead of a £100 and move that £20 back into week 2 to make a £100.

It sounds a bit messy but I think I will get the hang of it.

So the envelopes I will have are :

    Holiday

    Christmas

    Birthday

    Beauty

    Week 1

    Week 2

    Week 3

    Week 4

    Week 5

    Card spends

    Emergency fund

    Challenges

Anything left over from weekly spends will go to the challenges. Once a particular challenge is complete it will go into a massive tin which I cannot open without a tin opener :)

I will start this in the new year (with this end of month pay check).

My other resolution is not to buy any clothes for a year (for myself).

At the moment I will only cash stuff my personal spends. As the bills account and the food account seem to be working well enough. I would love to do food shop in person but really struggle with time so will stick to online orders for now.
We will also be saving for Christmas and birthdays in the bills account as a family but it be good to have additional savings. For holiday I am hoping to save a part of my bonus (my husband will do the same). There are not a lot of family holidays left with our son as he’s growing up so we would still like to go but budget better for it. Our daughter stopped going on holidays with us from about 18 as she went on trips with her boyfriend.
  • You are working very hard to sort your finances, Well done! Is  your husband on board?  Do you both not see the debt as a family unit? Perhaps sit down and come up with a joint plan that would be fairer to you?

Thank you :) I hope I’m getting a hang of it. I still have £60 left of this weeks personal money. Christmas sorted. Bills and food sorted. So feeling good.

I also have a solid plan for cash stuffing and im
excited to start. I received £30 monetary gift and saved that in my cash wallet.

Also i have been paid today but I’ve moved all amount to savings as will not use this pay until my official payday on 28!

I’m other news I have a date for my operation end of January and about 4/6 weeks recovery time. Which will mean I won’t be spending money on beauty and travel/ social haha
