Cancelled my appointment oh gosh… can’t look to see if they reply so embarrassed :(

I shop for food for 3 people and two pets, then things like drinks and household items (toilet paper etc) cover 2 more people as our daughter and her partner live with us (but they buy their own food mostly), oh also our son’s girlfriend seems to be here all the time haha. £100 a week is very good I thought. There’s no way I can do more as also don’t have time to batch cook etc.

Well done on cancelling your appointment.  That will save you £250 which is a lot of money for beauty treatments!  Not sure how often you spend that amount but if it's monthly that's £3000 a year - it soon mounts up!

Why do you think a second hand designer bag is worth £1,600, who gave that value?  You don’t like it, what’s the point of keeping it, I’d take the cash, you need it more than a bag.
There are a lot of these things that are worth a lot of money second hand because the original price was in the thousands.
The Preloved value of many second hand, and/or vintage even, is still a thousand plus, it's all about the brand.
Unless you're experienced with the type of luxury brands that command these prices you won't have the fullest of facts.
Even the lowlier brands will still command more than you realise !

Someone's disposable income will afford it until their circumstances change - then they would like to address it - many people will be doing this now that the interest rates have affected their lifestyle.
I think respect is due to them, it's not fun and it's not a nice situation to find yourself in.

I have sold the bag, I don’t know why I’m feeling so weird about it :(

I could also potentially sell a few other bits which I have valued at around 1.5-2k (but spent a LOT more on!). So in a way I can clear the rest of the credit cards not on 0%

But I feel sick for buying those things in the first place and now selling at a loss :(
Awful feeling isn't it, it'll pass though, focus on the sums coming in instead, see the figures going up and feel some positivity at that 🥰

I don't think your food budget is that bad to be honest. We probably spend about £500 a month for two of us and the dog. Drink and Food is one area of the budget that we don't scrimp on.

Well done for cancelling the appointments. Gives you time to reevaluate what is necessary spending in that department. Don't be embarrassed. You certainly won't be the first or the last to cancel an appointment!

I have contacted a few more re sellers to try and sell a watch and another designer bag :)

I think I’m coming to terms with it now and feeling ok. My son went out with his girlfriend and I gave him £30. I know maybe you will disagree but I don’t want to limit his enjoyment. They went to cinema and for a meal (they are teens).  I need to create a proper budget with pocket money allocated to him in return for chores/ this should help him budget too.

    Have £263 in my account.

Did a shop order £112 (separate food account).

Other than that it’s been a no spend day.

Well done, sounds like a very productive day. You’ll smash those interest cards in no time!
If you plan for everything in a budget then every pound is accountable and if you want to include some for your son then that’s perfectly fine. In return for chores sounds like a really good plan.
You’ve inspired me actually,  my debt is only small and interest only but I really want rid of it and to be debt free after what feels like forever moving debts on to new cards. I’m going to have a major declutter and sell stuff I don’t need / never used/ never worn etc

Well done on selling the bag and cancelling the appointment! I thought my story re a hairdresser might give you a chuckle...

Thought I'd try a different salon near my house so just booked without checking prices etc. For context for a cut and colour at where I usually went was about £50. So I go there, have my cut and colour and then go to pay... £125!!!! Then of course they say "would you like to make your next appointment" - well my brain was saying "how much, never coming here again", but out of embarrassment my mouth went "of course"! I then subsequently called to cancel and went back to my original salon!!! This was about 7 years ago!!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)
