Did you initially receive two £400 payments- one for each premises? If so, that was an error when, as you say, the two properties are one household.3

I can't see your court case being successful but be sure to update this thread regardless of the outcome.
My advice would be to take the £75 and move on. There are better battles to fight.0 -
Thank you everyone whose put input into my posts being a newbie I didn't know how this site worked I just turned to Martin Lewis for answers. My initial enquiry was the DD issue but I haven't got the answer to it. The issue isnt the EBSS funds thats sorted now through a long battle the issue was the DD action and was it legal or not. Whatever the outcome I will update on here to inform everyone. Once again thank you to all for your advice or input. x0

Two points to bear in mind.It costs more to pay by debit card on receipt of bill.As the annexe is only eight metres away, it might be worth supplying it from the main property to avoid the extra standing charges.2

Potentially also for council tax purposes (separate utilities is one of the things they consider)Gerry1 said:Two points to bear in mind.It costs more to pay by debit card on receipt of bill.As the annexe is only eight metres away, it might be worth supplying it from the main property to avoid the extra standing charges.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.1 -
Do you pay separate council tax for the annexe or is the property considered part of the main dwelling for that purpose?Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Suspect you need to go back to the 2021 and 22 periods when EOn say the DD and variable DD were set-up, modified to monthly variable, but not used.
Did you switch tariffs on second supply - that might have triggered payment change ?
The wouldn't have actually taken any cash if your debit card payment covered the bills before due date on a variable DD or even annual (I know people who pay DD rates and one with a £10 nominal annualised monthly DD set at Octopus with bills in £100s over winter - but just pays online by debit card on monthly statement so they never call on the DD payment facility) - and sounds like that's the case for you until they pulled the EBSS credit on second account.
There is likely some element of confusion over 2 bills in the same name (even if your OH is named first on one you will be seen as primary if its your bank account on both) even regarding DD authorisation in itself - and might explain them messing with EBSS too (flagging it as duplicate payment at same address)
Aside - as others above - unless you now say plan on letting the "annexe" - full time or air bnb short let etc - is their a good reason to keep it seperately metered (obvious reason might be to avoid costs of changing, less obvious say to keep both properties on say 100A incoming feeds in case go ASHP) but with electric SC approaching £200pa (more in some regions) its worth thinking about vs other costs in medium term.0 -
Just to be clear, if you're 65 then you haven't yet reached the threshold for age-based vulnerable status, but even if you're old enough (or vulnerable for other reasons) this doesn't grant you immunity from billing disputes - see what it entails in section 3 at https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/getting-extra-help-priority-services-registerRobinsonJ123 said:E.ON have a 'Duty of care' to customers their work affects. I'm classed as a vulnerable group. 65 a senior citizen. Vulnerable. They have neither displayed their duty of care to me nor have they displayed they've carried out a Risk Assessment either as I've had 8 months of hell trying to seek justice when it should have been resolved feb 28th day one. They caused it all and I suffered greatly so if they want to avoid breaking the HASAWA sec 2 and 3 then so be it. Thats the slap on the leg I meant. It is not vengence my friend it is Law.
I thought that earlier posts had answered that question, but to spell it out: no, it's not illegal for them to extend the use of an existing DD mandate for this household.RobinsonJ123 said:My initial enquiry was the DD issue but I haven't got the answer to it. I can't see the relevance of Section 2, unless you're an employee of Eon. Regarding Section 3, do you really think a court would find that they'd exposed you to risks to your health or safety? That sounds far fetched for a billing error.RobinsonJ123 said:... They caused it all and I suffered greatly so if they want to avoid breaking the HASAWA sec 2 and 3 then so be it.1
