I think your only option is to claim on your normal house insurance, all expensive items should be included so that situations like this are covered - when you next renew your policy re-assess your other items too.

Much as if your car got stolen the car manufacturer has no reason to be in anyway connected then I don’t see how a jewler can be connected to a stolen ring.

I don't understand the question.  Excuse for what?  Are you suggesting you go back to the retailer and claim that the ring they sent you two years ago never arrived?  That would a) be implausible, and b) fraud.

Insurance is your only route here.

Is there something going on which you haven't explained to us? Why do you think the retailer ought to be involved with your theft?

When you've heard of, say, people being burgled, do you think they then just go around the shops asking for free replacements for everything?

Maybe if you told us what happened for it to get stolen you would get some answers.
