Virgin active gym

Hi, stupid me created a membership with virgin active for 12 months and the first month being free for. They charge £50 a month but silly me didn't realise it's quite far and £50 a month is just not worth it. I still need to pay the first month's payment, and is it my first time ever creating any kind of membership and me being not so wise with T&C's and with money in general, I was wondering am I able to cancel it? A possible lie? If so will I need to pay some kind of fees?

Have you asked them if you can cancel, read the T&Cs of the contract you signed? But yes, you might be on the hook for the £600 annual membership.

The place I go to, does cheaper memberships if you sign up to 12 months minimum term, with more expensive monthly fees if you only want to commit to 3 / 6 months or want a rolling membership you can cancel anytime. (Rolling is most expensive monthly)

Personally I only would sign up to a gym, where I was sure of the location, and how that worked in relation to my home/work and how I was intending to use the gym e.g. a gym near work to go to straight after / straight before.

if you've only just joined there should be a cooling off period, as above, check T&Cs.

I think I'm gone past the cooling of period but I did hear someone say about if you have a medical note from your GP they can cancel the membership?

But, you don't presumably have a medical note / condition that would preclude you joining (and if you do, why on earth did you join in the first place??)
