"Our Report raises serious concerns over the current level of delays across the County Court. We found that although the pandemic contributed to such delays, this trend had been growing since 2012."

Huh,  whilst I suspect government austerity policy post 2010 GE and continued chronic underfunding is the main cause, it does seem an odd coincidence that the year POFA is introduced, delay trends have increased year on year since for small claims.

Er, didn't we see that 75% of meditation phone calls go unanswered the other week? Hardly a great success.

LDast said: This interactive tool is good for filtering and then doing analysis of the data:
    Civil Justice Statisics Dashboard

For example, you can extract that in Q4 2024, there were 361,208 money claims. You can even drill down to the number of hearings in each court.

Interestingly, of the 438.9K total number of claims in Q4 2024, the bulk were money claims (361,208) of which 331,803 of those were issued through the CNBC.
    July 2025 UPDATE:

The Justice Committee has published their very critical report on the work of the County Court:

    https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5901/cmselect/cmjust/677/report.html

Interesting. It does say that (out of the 1.7 million small claims issued in 2024) over a million are 'MCOL and damages' claims. But it doesn't break it down.

I see two responses from legally qualified posters on this forum are among the footnotes.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Another call for evidence from the Justice Committee, this time about access to justice.  It might be of use to professional court users here.

While many of the questions will not be relevant for most of us, it is surely worth making the point that most people defending PCN’s have to rely on websites such as this and the help of volunteers when dealing with potentially serious matters such as set asides.
