Sky broadband deal - impossible to sign up

  • Just spent several hours trying without success to sign up for a Sky broadband package.  All attempts ended wth "Sorry, we're having technical diffilcultie". I tried deals with and without Sky TV.. Tried via Uswitch link and direct on the Sky website.  The prices varied all over the place.  One deal was as £17/month; got to filling in my personal details and then got the error message.  Tried for a £33 deal, and about half way through the process the price had changed to £24/month; then I got the error.  Tried again for the £33 deal and during the process the price showed up as £17. Again I got the error. after going through almost the whole process.  I know I can get over 500Mb/s (with my current provider), so avaliable of fibre at my location is not the issue.   I had spoken on the phone to someone in the Sky sales dept after my first failures online -  (I had great difficulty understanding him) - and he said the £17 deal had probably expired - though I saw it again later in a further online attempt, as well as the £24 price.

I asked him to clarify what channels you got with the Sky TV package, and he kept startng with the usual freesat/freeview channels (eg the BBC channels) despite my saynig I only wanted to know what channels I would get that are not on freesat. I couldn't find a list of these anywhere on the Sky website. I then asked him to email a list of the Sky TV channels but he said he coud donly do that if I gave him my phone number - I am a loss to understand why... So I gave up on the phone and am reluctant to try talking to them on the phone again.

It seems that Sky don't give a s... about new customers.  I am now intending to go with Vodaphone - almost no difference in price since although their broadband price is a little more, their phone call package is half Sky's price - and your get Apple TV free.

I am having the same problem, going through USwitch, through to Sky, offered the £22 per month deal, fill in all details and then.. sorry technical difficulties...

I am using Chrome, and don't have an ad blocker.. Can anyone advise how to make this work?

UPDATE: I tried using Safari instead and it got me a little further in the process, completing details of my previous broadband provider. I even got an automated email from Vodafone (my current ISP) saying they are sorry to hear I am thinking of leaving to join Sky. But then Sky gives me the "Sorry, we're having technical difficulties" message again.

    This is very frustrating...

I realise the comments so far date back to 2023 but (now in 2025) I have had the precise same issue."Sorry, we're having technical difficulties. Unfortunately, we have not been able to proceed with your order. Please try again later." Have spoken to Sky (so far, wasted over 5 hours over 4 days on the phone). The error has left, in their words, a 'ghost account' on their records (which they can't seem to delete) so every time I retry the switch (Via MSE) I get half way thru and get a message saying, unsurprisingly,"Looks like we have found an account associated with your address" and won't proceeed further. Sky (direct, phone) can't offer a deal any way close to the one I'm going for. Got to think, given the historic issue on this forum, they're deliberately sabotaging the MSE Switch deal (or am I being paranoid?).

Yup, having the same issue here. I've tried with different email addresses, different browsers, cleared caches and cookies, different OS, different machines (phones, tablets, desktop, even the browser on my tv)....all to no avail. Phoned Sky and the first person claimed it was because I wasn't technically a new customer as I'd had broadband from them previously. When pressed, he said it's within the last 24 months. My last account with Sky was 9 years ago at a different address. I tried putting it in my wife's name and still no luck.

In the end, the Sky rep just said to keep on trying, or sign up over the phone for £18 more a month than the online deal.
