    Her property?
    Proceeds hers.
  • So you found a buyer for your daughters property, big deal... she's your daughter!
My 28 year old son had many toys, train sets, Pokemon cards etc etc, he left home years ago but even although we ( his parents) bought the items when I sell them on eBay the money is his, one Pokemon card alone sold for £500.
How you can think you deserve even one penny of your daughters property amazes me.

I see your MSE Staff so obviously it must be a spoof post as nobody could be that greedy and selfish to their offspring

ALL moral dilemmas are posted by MSE staff, that's how it works, they post the dilemmas sent in to them.
Not true. I posted one once
  • Sell and keep the money. You raised them and will probably be bailing them out for many years to come. Sell it and keep the money.

I believe the official MMDs are only posted by MSE staff (usually MSE_Kelvin) and go into the MSE weekly newsletter.
    They originate from real people:
Unfortunately the MSE team can't answer Money Moral Dilemma questions as contributions are emailed in or suggested in person.

Looking at your profile you have not started any threads which means you have not personally posted a MMD.

You may mean that you emailed a MMD for consideration which if it had been accepted, MSE staff would have started the thread.
So as Zebo says, ALL moral dilemmas are posted by MSE staff.

There is nothing (I guess) from you starting a thread titled "Money Moral Dilemma xxxxxx" but it won't be an official one.

How patronising you are. I posted one about 3 years ago about a tenant of mine who disappeared without paying his rent. If I weren't at a concert tonight I would search for it. But I will tomorrow

What makes you assume that an 18 year old is being bailed out? it might be entirely the reverse, that the 18 year old is financially secure. and  that the parent is even considering keeping the money because of THEIR financial situation ( eg keeping a roof over their heads)  rather than their daughters? If family start to balance to the penny the amounts spent on bringing up a child with what the child will eventually 'pay back', where is the relationship going to go?

Family, you do what you can for each other?

I regret that you found my post patronising.

However patronising you found it to be, it is true.
    Check out your profile.
According to your account, it is true that you have posted on 83 threads but have started none.

Please do find the Money Moral Dilemma that you personally posted 3 years ago.
I'd be interested to read it and will apologise if I'm wrong.

I do hope you enjoyed the concert.

  • I would say it depends what she meant when she said she no longer wants it. If she just wanted it to be given away and wasn't expecting it to be worth anything then I'd say the money's yours. Where as if she was hoping you'd sell it for her and knew it was worth money then I'd say the money's hers.
