Thanks Sassy, I have been cooking for the best part of thirty years  and have never once made bread sauce I usually use a packet so thought I would do it the traditional way and see what the difference was.
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post

We had pheasant for dinner last night, and I made the usual pan-full of bread sauce. However, as there are only 2 of us, and no leftovers (as OH has them planned for his lunch!), I am left with a bowl full of bread sauce. Can I freeze it??

I don't know the answer but if even if it's no why not try anyway. There's a few things I freeze that I've seen warnings against but they seem to work ok. I'd be interested in whether it works if you do try it since I'm the only one that likes it so mostly don't bother making - would be nice to be able to pull a portion out of freezer.

I always make enough bread sauce so I can freeze some. Defrosted and reheated it tastes just as good, if not better, than the first time around.

Of course you can freeze it :) Why wouldn't you be able to? I've always got some in my freezer as I always make too much and it's only me that likes it.

Thanks for your replies..... I guess I had just assumed it couldn't be frozen! Will batch it up & bung it in the freezer when I get home!

I didn't know you could freeze bread sauce till I read it in a cooking magazine in November, so I made a batch when I'd got some stale bread to use up and froze it to use for Christmas dinner and it was fine. I just thawed it, heated it & stirred in a tablesoon of cream and it was as good as freshly made.
