Octopus Saving sessions 2023

We are on deemed export (old panels) plus FIT with a third party, but have smart meter and octopus for both gas and electric.
Just like to check with those in the know, does this mean we can't get any saving sessions payments if we fill the batteries and then discharge during the savings sessions time?

Correct. You need to be on metered export, and your account for export needs to be with a supplier that's part of the savings scheme.frugalfran said:We are on deemed export ..., does this mean we can't get any saving sessions payments if we fill the batteries and then discharge during the savings sessions time?

You got paid £4 per kWh for the last two sessions. I believe you can keep the FIT but change the deemed export to SEG. With a battery I think that would be advantageous.0

If on deemed Export then I do not believe export will be added to any energy savings you are able to make. In order to do so you would have to give up deemed export( which might be painful in your case) and apply for an export tariff such as Octopus Outgoing then apply for Mpan metering(not sure if this last item is just requires allocating or an additional install).

Saves waiting for a week for Octopus to let us know how we did.
However seeing your results and hearing about others too is only adding to my frustration of not yet having battery storage for our solar panels …… they were installed back in 2011 and we are fortunate enough to have the highest FIT rate but it’s clear that to maximise our returns now we need a battery.
I have to confess though that the whole process is completely baffling to me.
Anyone fancy educating me ?
Cheers

A good start would be to look at the Gary Does Solar video series on Youtube. He has also developed spreadsheets to help you work out the economics of different systems.

Is the second bit correct, as long as your export is metered by the smart meter does it matter who your seg payment is with?QrizB said:

Only your export supplier has access to your export readings. Your import supplier does not.michaels said:

The fact that you're lucky enough to be getting FIT payments means it's not as simple for you to work out the cost/benefits of adding battery storage.....nobby1963 said:

You'd definitely need to take some time to think it through and all the different options you could take.1
