I love having my wee pots so save up in.
I'll do better with them next year.Debt Free - 4th June 20251 -
Had a great time on Saturday with my friends! I didn't spend too much - although I have asked friend's as think I may owe them something. We had a curry at the end of the night and I'm not sure who paid - it took so long by the time we'd eaten, we just wanted to leave so didn't bother working it out then! Yesterday I did buy me and bf a burger at lunch - I'm blaming the hangover and bf! I asked late morning if I needed to pop to the shop for anything for lunch and he said "no it will be fine"... then turned out there was only enough sandwich bits to feed the kids and we had to dash to take his son to football! Not saying I didn't appreciate the burger at the time!
We did pop to the shop yesterday evening for something for me to have in a sandwich today... bf assured me there was bread... went to make a sandwich this morning couldn't locate it! So I have bought a meal deal again today! We must do a "proper" food shop this evening! Also need to get petrol today - still have £110 left in the petrol pot which is more than enough to get me through the rest of the month.
Today's little list...- Update spreadsheet
- Write shopping list
- Get petrol on way home
- Make CC payment - at the moment decided to use £40 of the insurance "excess" to take Virgin CC down to £750 (I like round numbers!)
- Shop to list
- Snap receipts
- Load of washing on 30 degree quick wash
- Hang washing on airer
- Dinner from stores
Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)1 -
Things on my "weekly list" this week...
- Cancel TV licence!
- Change vets appointment for new pooch to have "MOT" - bf booked for a time forgetting he was at Thorpe Park and I'll be at work!
- Research pet insurance
- Make better progress with crochet present
Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)1 -
Did a shop with bf last night so we actually have food in the house!!! He paid (we roughly tend to take it in turns) - it came to £45 but should see us through the week. Then came home, cooked dinner and watched a movie with a candle lit - was very nice! I did spend £63 on petrol on my way home, leaving £47 in the pot - will probably just let that roll over to next month.
I got the details I needed over the weekend to log in to my new CC account - also means I can see all my mortgage details (with the same company). Current outstanding mortgage is £67,500. Oh how I would like to overpay the mortgage! I used to make small regular overpayments once upon a time - although I was in debt at the time so probably shouldn't have! That's a goal again for the future!
Think I've finally worked out what is going on with my broadband bill! I've just switched to lower the monthly cost but it was saying that the next bill will be £49 (was previously £36)! So actually what's happening is that they haven't taken the DD this month and so next month is a bit weird! I will leave the un-taken DD in the account and then top up next month to the £49. From then onward it should be £24.50!
Today's bits and bobs...- Make lunch to take to work
- Update spreadsheet
- Log in to Vodafone to work out billing
- Snap receipts
- Work on crochet present at lunch
- Dinner from stores
- Pop a chicken breast that needs using in the airfryer so I can have that tomorrow
Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00

Had another lovely quiet evening with bf! Walked pooch together, cooked dinner and watched some TV! However, the rest of the week is quite busy! Acro tonight, netball tomorrow, Friday he is going to Thorpe Park, Saturday I am going to parkour then me and bf are doing Go Ape in the dark!
I cancelled the TV licence yesterday, saving me £15 per month. I did get confused as the man said I could get a refund as "paid until April" but after trying to claim realised this probably applies to people who pay annually, whereas I paid monthly. So recently I have saved money for energy (although DD has actually gone up!), broadband and TV. I don't think there's anything else I can shave off - don't have a TV package as only use netflix, phone is only £6.50 per month.
Today's bits and bobs...- Make lunch to take to work (as did bf!)
- Update spreadsheet
- Work on crochet present at lunch
- Maybe make a small CC payment to keep up momentum! (i.e. probably only £5 at this point in the month!)
- Read latest MSE email
- Pay lowest amount at acro
- Small dinner from stores
Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)2 -
Don't you pay 6 months in advance on the TV licence? I've always paid annually but I am sure I read that for the first 6 months you pay double & then pay normal. Surely that means you are 6 months ahead all the time? Could that be what he meant?

Thanks @badmemory - I will check again! There's an online form that he told me to complete and I tried yesterday and it said I wasn't owed anything - which is why I assumed because I pay by monthly DD that I wasn't ahead. Worth a double check though!
Slightly depressing... I've just earned my 10 year MSE badge! 10 years since I first started trying to sort this mess out! This is the time though! It's only down to me now and I don't have ex to "blame" anymore.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Sadly I found out yesterday that a friend had passed away. It was expected as after years of poor health her dialysis had stopped working so she had made the decision that she'd battled enough. So it's sad but pleased she has peace now. Honestly the amount she's been through and has remained positive is incredible. She was only 37, which goes to show how short and precious life is.
I nearly didn't go to acro, given the sad news but opted to still go - almost felt that I owed it to my friend to make use of having a fully functioning body as she was wheelchair bound and so I should embrace what I have. It was quite a chilled acro class, but I did something that I really impressed myself with though! Basically it's something I hate doing as the "flyer" (person twiddling around in the air") as it feels like too much pressure on the base's wrists (person on the bottom) as basically involves me standing on their hands and them holding all my weight. So I decided to try base that move so I could see what it felt like - and I didn't drop my flyer!!! Dinner was just some toast when I get back.
Tonight is another active one as I have netball. However game isn't until 9:20 so bf is cooking us pasta for dinner before - will need to check if I'm meeting my friend at the pub first though!
Today's bits and bobs...- Load of washing on 30 degree cycle
- Make lunch to take to work (as did bf!)
- Update spreadsheet
- See if I can change a couple of DD dates to come out on the 1st of the month - doesn't appear I can change the broadband one annoyingly
- Work on crochet present at lunch
- Hang washing on airer
- Dinner from stores
- Check what time bf will be home tomorrow - may take a portion of beef fajitas out the freezer for my dinner tomorrow if he won't be back
- Park for free at netball

We lost at netball last night but still enjoyed it! Bf cooked us pasta for dinner and I then met a friend at the pub for a beer before netball!
There was enough pasta leftover that I've taken it for my lunch today - also meaning I didn't take anything out of the freezer as I'll have a sandwich for dinner instead as bf won't be back until late-ish most likely!
Today's bits and bobs...- Load of washing on 30 degree cycle
- Take lunch to work
- Update spreadsheet
- Make £5 CC payment
- Work on crochet present at lunch
- Pop to a couple of shops on way home
- Snap receipts
- Hang washing on airer
- Dye hair (need some hair dye first!)
- "Dinner" from stores

Weekend plans...
Tonight will be a quiet night at home as bf is out at Thorpe Park for the day and not sure what time he'll be back. So I'm planning to dye my hair and then sit and crochet in front of the TV!
Tomorrow I am going to a parkour class - I haven't been for a few years but they've been running 10 years so have a special session! It cost £10 which I have already booked and taken out of my "fitness" pot - will need to pay for parking in town though. My aunt and uncle are down for the day and will be in town where my class is - so I am planning to meet them for a cuppa after my class. Bf may come join us so he can meet them. Then in the evening me and bf are doing Go Ape in the dark! I paid for the tickets last month so no cost other than parking - will need to think about dinner though as it is at 7pm, so do we eat before or after?!
Sunday is plan free at the moment, so not sure what we'll end up doing. Maybe just a quiet day at home but I expect we will pop out at some point for a walk or something.
So weekend shouldn't involve too much spending but I will need to be mindful of how much the little bits (i.e. parking, cuppa etc) add up. I have just over £100 left in my "personal" spends pot - although that needs to last me until 31st when I get paid.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
