    I'm not self employed

However they said before if I don't pay by mid November

However the question remains what happens to the £30 per month I've been paying

They will get a debt collector

Does this mean I'll get a default on my credit file? I can pay £150 in one day, so that means the default is paid off

    I will phone them
That is the sensible thing to do and once you have got everything clarified with them, make sure you get all the information in written form eg an email.

I would imagine the £30 per month is for a broadband service, so that would be paying for the service you use?  What sort of contract have you signed up to with Sky?
In what way have "they" restricted it?

How have they been communicating with you regards the, alleged, outstanding amount?

I signed up for a 18 month contract broadband service

    I will communicate with them

It's still harsh to say that I owe them money, surely something has to be mitigated

If they do go to a debt collection agency, if I can pay the outstanding balance quickly, will the default be lessened? They may default but I paid it off

  • The provider must have sent you something detailing how any debt is calculated.
Can  you post a redacted copy of this and a copy of a statement of the account you think is right?
Without actual details it’s difficult to offer constructive help.

    Thanks I will, just busy

If they do go to a debt collection agency, if I can pay the outstanding balance quickly, will the default be lessened? They may default but I paid it off?

£150 is quick to pay off

It may be harsh and it might not be the case, but maybe it is.
If you discuss the situation with them I am sure it will be resolved without the need for them to involve a debt collection agency.

I can pay off £150 today

However if I do get a default and I pay off the default, does it lesson the effect on my credit file because I paid if off

Or will it still affect my credit file even if the default is paid off very very quickly

    I'll phone now

However when I phone, the only options are to pay off or phone back later and pay off

There is no option to speak to an advisor
  • You don't seem to know what the amount they allege you owe is for.  That needs to be clarified.  How have they told you you owe this amount, by email or letter?

  • I have just been reading a thread elsewhere that states that Sky will not speak to anyone whose account is in arrears, only when it is brought up to date will they do so.

    Seems unfortunate.
