You are welcome.ARainyDay said:@ThisIsWeird thank you for going to the effort of hunting both of those down- I had found them when I was doing a deeper dig this evening. It looks like you push the clips up to remove the grill. There must be an issue with the mechanisms on mine, because they are not budging. Maybe when I reinserted it when I removed it the first time I did something wrong. A bit stuck as to what to do now
I think a good next move would be to ask for owner's help on the Amazon Q&A section?
Silly Q - could the clips actually be in the 'open' position, and all you need to do is prise away the released cover? Is it obvious which way the cover needs to move once the clips are opened?
We promise not to laugh if that's the issue.0 -
Try easing dental floss all around the clips, it may cut through any built up crud.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. if the instructions say to push both of the clips, I'm willing to bet that the last time you removed it to clean you put one clip back in the wrong way round. It now might be jammed in.....
I'd recommend trying the clips in every combination, and some brute force0 -
The one in the photo looks remarkably simular to mine, even though the brand name is different. Though mine is fitted with two smaller filters. On mine, the filters are trapped in by a lip at the bottom. To remove them, I push them upwards, just a few millimetres, then pull them out.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

And they are too embarrassed to come back and 'fess up... :-)0

@ThisIsWeird bit of a delay getting back to this, I’ve tried prising the grill itself in case the clips are already opened but nothing happens. No embarrassment here, I just cannot for the life of me remember how I got the grill off the first time round. @Ectophile I think I know what you mean- you push both clips upwards towards open, and in doing this raises the filter a few mm so it bypasses the lip and then you can lift it out towards you, at a slightly titled angle so the bottom end of the grill slides out first. I can see how this should work, it just feels like something is caught that’s preventing me from getting it out. I will try the dental floss trick and ask on Amazon. I wonder if when I put the grill back in something did jam as @FFHillbilly has suggested- I didn’t take the actual clips off the grill the last time so I’m not sure how I could’ve put one on the wrong way around.1

@Ectophile can you tell from your grill what these clips are actually “clipping” into? Mine barely move, so when I try to push both up, I cannot feel any movement happening behind the grill as though they are being unclipped from something- the only movement is from the grill itself being lifted up a few mms, which did make me wonder whether they are actually more handles (for lifting the grill to get it over the lip) than clips. But then if that was the case there’s be no need for the “Closed” instruction0

Here is what my one looks like, looking upwards with the filters removed. At the top are four plastic clips. They are slightly springy. At the bottom is the rail with the light.Having taken the filters out again, I made a mistake earlier. The filters have little pegs at the bottom that slot into the rail where the light is.So the process is to shove the filter upwards into the plastic clip, against the spring. Eventually, the pegs at the bottom come free. Then pull outwards on the bottom of the filter to remove it.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
Thanks @Ectophile for taking the time to photograph this. I will give it another go and if all else fails will call the agent, as I don’t want to end up causing more damage myself if it appears that it’s jamming on something. Will post the resolution!2
