O2 Contract Cancellation - Making it impossible
I have/had an O2 Refresh contract. I have paid off my device plan early.
I have called them over 6 times now asking to cancel my contract. I have been told each and every time that it has been cancelled and I'd receive confirmation e-mail, and the My O2 app would update. This has been over the span of a month. They have blatantly lied to me as absolutely nothing has been changed and I've never received an e-mail. Obviously I've told them all this on the phone. I have tried writing a complaint, writing to them on social media and so on and they are just not cancelling it, and infact I have now paid another bill which I shouldn't have because it's gone on this long.
I am so close to just cancelling my direct debit, but I have the fear they will put a default on my file.
What are my options here? You have to call, and then they lie to you on the phone. They are obviously instructed to do this so people keep paying. It's been a long time since I've wrote a letter, but can I give them notice that way? Can someone advise please?
Thanks

You just need to get a STAC from the text service, give that to your new provider and the O2 contract will be automatically cancelled.0

Or, if you want to keep your existing phone number you request a PAC. As above, you do this via text messaging.1

If you give that pac to a different network (including a payg) your o2 service will stop and your number will be transferred.
I am not sure what you mean by cancelling the contract. There is likely to be a separate contract for equipment and calls/data. How much are you being charged and for what?0
