    Yep, me too. Octopus sent my details to the company they outsource this to in November. I chased up both 'the company' and Octopus, repeatedly, before I found out there were no fitters in my area. Then in the mid winter Octopus got in touch to say I would hear from a fitter: 'within 12 weeks'.

    No I didn't...

    I managed to get the insulation work done, though it wouldn't have been possible without constant follow-ups from me. Surprisingly, I didn't end up using GBIS in the end. The surveyor and insulation provider recommended I switch to Connected to Warmth, allowing me to have both cavity and loft insulation installed. GBIS only offers one type of insulation.

    While it seems like a tactic to increase their workload and revenue, it didn't cost me anything extra, and the process was much faster compared to GBIS.

    Throughout this experience, Octopus has been disappointing. Several weeks after the insulation was completed, they contacted me via email, asking if I had received updates from their third-party and if any work had been done! It's clear they have no clue about the progress.
  • I've had a similar very poor experience with Octopus. I was initially a Shell Energy customer and so put my GBIS application through via them in February. I called and spoke to their GBIS advisor who said that room in roof insulation could be provided under the scheme and that it could be done in tandem with a loft conversion project which is now taking place with a 12 week lead time for a survey. However Octopus fully took over Shell's customers in March and then nothing, no updates, no information, no assurance. I submitted a 2nd application via Octopus in March and despite chasing this up and explaining my situation with building work taking place they have now said they will not provide room in roof insulation. This leaves me with an uninsulated loft room which I cannot afford to insulate. Octopus' response to this - contact Ofgem!
  • Hey, I read through this thread and wondered where people got to?
    I applied in June 24 and was accepted within 12 weeks. However after a lot of cold turkey to my emails.
    They today sent me an email saying;

    “Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to find an installer who is able to complete the loft top-up measure your property requires under the scheme. Each installer has their own criteria for the work they can take on, and in this instance, we have not been able to match your property’s needs with a suitable installer.”

    Anyone else had the same?

    Apologies that I am not answering the question above but think my query is related.
    I encouraged a relative to apply for British insulation scheme via Octopus as their website information seemed so comprehensive and better than the info their actual supplier had. However reading further,  concerned my relative may not hear back from Octopus either at all or not for many months.  Can my relative apply via the Govt website as well, put their current supplier in and simply see which supplier responds first, the one they use and Octopus? I am not suggesting they try and get more than they may be entitled to, just wanting to ensure they do get a response from someone. Can anyone advise/ has anyone done this?
