Do I need to amend named person on house deeds

Dad named me on will as trustee, executor and to take ownership of his house at his death. Also he gave me house deeds which are in his name, approx year of deeds 1970.
Do I need to amend deeds to show my name, if so what's the process IE solicitor or land registry etc?

what are you planning to do with the house? - if selling it then just hand the whole lot to the solicitor handling the conveyancing0

Has the property been registered with the land registry ?
You can check here
Search for land and property information - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
You don't need to pay to get a copy of the title, you're just looking to see if it exists on there at all
If it does, then the actual deeds are generally just a 'nice to have'; if it doesn't then it will need to be registered and the deeds are important evidence documenting who owns the property.1 -
Planning on living there in near future, as house is fully paid for and currently I live in part ownership paying rent to landlord property company.Flugelhorn said:what are you planning to do with the house? - if selling it then just hand the whole lot to the solicitor handling the conveyancing0 -
But either way will I need to have my name put onto deeds and I'm assuming a solicitor needs to oversee that!p00hsticks said:Has the property been registered with the land registry ?

There is some info here about what to do - looks like it can be done by the new owner but a lot of people may find it easier to get a solicitor to do it.adeo said:

Yes even if it is registered already then you need to have it changed to your name, you should be able to do this yourself with forms from LR< (form AP1) no need for a solicitor."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "1

Unless the house is very new, I would use a solicitor to do the registration. You don't want to create problems for the next sale if you get something wrong now.

As a first registration, it would be best if you instruct a solicitor. It can be quite daunting to deal with all the paperwork if you're not too sure of the process.2
