Hi all.
This is what I have received back via emailGood Morning,
We write in reference to the above matter and your recent correspondence.
Debt recovery costs are contractually agreed by the motorist when visiting the car park. They only apply when the opportunity to pay the parking charge has expired and the parking company has been forced to commence debt recovery activities. Such contractual costs are recognized by the courts as covering debt recovery activity between the expiry of the parking charge notice and the commencement of litigation, including pre-litigation correspondence.
The fees we charge our clients for our services are subject to VAT. However, these are separate and distinct from contractual debt recovery costs recoverable by our client from the motorist.
Please be advised we have placed your account on a 30 day hold which will expire 22 May 2025 to seek debt advice.
Should you wish to discuss this matter further please contact us on 0113 487 0430 or alternatively sign in or register on our Customer Portal at www.bwlegal.co.uk.
If you have any further issues or new questions that you would like us to assist you with, we kindly request that you use the contact options below to submit a new query.

Yep, template reply , so think about reporting them to HMRC with possible VAT concerns, then await any future court claim pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL to arrive in the post3

Ironically the sums are wrong as the outstanding balance via the letter is £100 + £70 costs not £60.Good Morning
Thank you for your recent correspondence.
The Parking Charge issued is for the sum of £100.00 and our additional costs amount to £60.00. The relevant Code of Practice laid out by the International Parking Community (IPC) states that £100.00 is a reasonable amount to charge for the breach of contract within our Client's car parks. The additional cost of £60.00 represents the nature and type of work undertaken by debt recovery agents in the collection of the balance of the unpaid Parking Charge.
Our Client is satisfied that you remain liable for the cost of the PCN and the costs of debt recovery, due to non-payment of the charge in question.
If you have any further issues or new questions that you would like us to assist you with, we kindly request that you use the contact options below to submit a new query.
You can also log into our Customer Portal by clicking and go to the Contact History of your account to view the contact.
Yours sincerely,
Will also add that they have very generously offered me to pay in instalments of £57.50 per month but not actually for how long!BW Legal

It used to be £60, now £70, so it's clear that they have not updated their template
But its irrelevant because it's rarely awarded in court, no matter what the figure is, the template defence objects to it anyway, always has done1 -

Three lots of £57.50 would be £172.50 which means (unless the final payment us less) they'd be charging extra as some sort of surcharge or credit broker fee.
Not allowed under the FCA CONC rules for payment plans/'pay in three' type arrangements, and payment surcharges are illegal under the Surcharges Regulations.
