I was told I've got an interview for position as an online English teacher on zoom, but I've never used this app. Do you have to pay for it ? I've been looking for the link

Zoom is free unless you need a business account (you shouldn't for this) - often they will send a link which you clink on and it sorts out from there - if not then all you need is the basic account https://zoom.us/pricing0

Do you know the best link to download it?mortgageFTB said:No, you don’t need to pay for it.0 -
Have a look at the link I posted above - should explain there - also here https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting

The company you will be working for will have a business account and you would be using that for the sessions, the app is free but you might need a camera and microphone if your computer does not have them built in.2

There are features that you can pay to access but it's the person setting up the meeting that needs to have paid not the other attendees.textbook said:

You can join a call directly from the website or you can download the app to a computer or phone. I dont know with Zoom but with Teams it used to be the case that the app was more feature rich than the website version (eg blurring backgrounds) but I think they've reduced the gap.
Zoom, like other similar providers, has a test service so you can go to https://zoom.us/test and join a free meeting of just you to make sure your video, sound etc works ok4 -
Given you're new to Zoom, have a practice before your interview, with any computer-using friend, to check you know how to use it and that your camera and mike are working properly.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!4

Great suggestion and I'd strongly agree with giving it a practice run and trying it out first especially given it's free so there's no cost to getting someone else to take part.Marcon said:Given you're new to Zoom, have a practice before your interview, with any computer-using friend, to check you know how to use it and that your camera and mike are working properly.0 -
Just for completeness... on the free version there is a 40 minute time cap on a meeting. The paid for version, which the potential employer will have, is uncapped. If the OP gets cut off during the practice they shouldn't get worried that the same will happen during the actual interview.Johnmcl7 said:

If you have a smartphone it's possible to Zoom on that, and it might be worth seeing which gives you best results.textbook said:

Phone isn't great when there's more than 4 people at the other end (because you can't see them all) and you need to sort your settings out if there's more than one person because it is SO much easier when you can see who's talking immediately.Signature removed for peace of mind0
