I reckon this is a classic sounds good in theory idea - but not in practice.
Numerous articles on the internet - but I strongly suspect independent online reviewers have never field tested the kit.

Caught a short film on tv or YouTube a while back of a girl who’d decided to save money by stuffing her clothes in her coat and wearing it. Fell at the first hurdle, rumbled by baggage staff who it seems see this pretty regularly. Can’t recall if she missed her flight whilst getting herself luggage or if she simply left it all behind. Then the guy who decided to wear his luggage, resembled Michelin man, sweating so badly that the baggage staff thought he was ill and pulled him over.
And this is it in a nutshell - it'll obviously depend on the exact airlines you're flying but if you try and leave Stansted on a Ryanair flight wearing one of those you're likely to be laughed out of the place (they've seen it all before) leaving you with both the cost of sourcing a new bag and the additional cost of adding it to your booking.

For an overnight/weekend you might get away with it assuming you've got toiletries etc at the destination but for anything more than that you'll struggle

Did see some alternatives like Bagket which is a bag that converts into a jacket.

You could that way take it through security as a bag all the way to the gate. Convert it to a jacket and then carry it on board as a jacket. I assume there is no rule that says you have to wear any jacket you have onto the plane. Then put it under the seat still in the jacket format for the flight.

As these things seem to be in the £70-110 range you are not really saving much unless you plan to do this trip more than once. If not, it seems like a load of hassle for not much gain.

Who do you mean by 'baggage staff'? In terms of being 'rumbled', it's not clear to me that there's anything wrong with wearing luggage, but if there was something in an airline's Ts & Cs, it would presumably be a matter for airline staff at the gate rather than baggage handlers or security screeners....

I can't imagine anything 'wearable' that would contain more than a soft bag small enough to fit under the seat in front of you, which as far as I know can always be carried on board for free. I've rarely travelled with anything larger for a few weeks' trip, plus a jacket if needed.
    Evolution, not revolution

But if it fits under the seat then it may as well be your free bag you are allowed. If its so big it has to go into the overhead its naturally going to raise questions on if its a jacket or actually luggage in which case you get stung with the bag fee to again may as well have brought a bag
  • Do you really want to wear your SLR camera anyway? When you squeeze into the tiny seat there is a good chance it will get damaged.
