  • Ok, thanks everyone. I’m a bit clearer about how the forum works now. Sadly, we will just pay. I’m too scared to not pay, we’ve never defaulted on anything ever. As an FYI, Parkinson’s drugs can lead to impulsive spending and impaired judgement. We will be more careful in future.

There is no harm in trying a second time with customer services if you've only been on to them once. Sometimes you get a "computer says no" with one person, and another attempt can get you someone more approachable.
As someone else suggested have you rummaged out the original email to see if there's anything in that which is unclear/could have led to your husband's mistake?
It may not get you anywhere but generally speaking it doesn't hurt to try. I've had a quick look at their terms and conditions but it does look as if live chat is the only way to address complaints.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I think your husband was tricked but sadly I don't think you can do anything about. DAZN are one of a good few operators who make you subscribe without really knowing that your doing it. If you read every bit of text it can be seen but the text is never noticed amongst the flashy graphics and video clips. Best thing we can all do is to stay away from these companies until the use their service in a moral way. The worst for doing it are kids apps for smart phones. Hidden cost after hidden cost. They hope it goes unnoticed and it just gets taken weekly or monthly from all of our accounts. More regulation of the internet please!

Just to point out that this thread was started 8 months ago and the OP hasn't logged back into MSE since November 2023.

I think more care by users is required when purchasing goods or services online.
And, of course, checking of bank accounts/credit card statements frequently.
