DAZN subscription advice required

My husband signed up to DAZN to watch the Katie Taylor fight for what he thought was a one off payment of 10.99. We noticed that DAZN were still taking 9.99 per month so I signed in and cancelled the subscription in August. However, further payments were taken. I have used online chat option and the person said that he had signed up to a12 month contract and that it must be paid. They have just cancelled the auto renewal. My husband is adamant that he didn’t know it was 12 months. He also has Parkinson’s so is a vulnerable person. I told DAZN this to no avail. Do we have to pay? Can I instruct our bank to stop paying, if so what will happen?

as you can see, the 9.99 payment is for 12 months. So yes you have to pay

Yes, I realise that. My question was what happens if I don’t pay? I feel it wasn’t made clear when he signed up. Also feel they should waive the n payments due to aforementioned vulnerability.0

Yes, you can cancel the payment mandate at the bank, but that doesn't extinguish any liability you have to the merchant, who can still pursue you for payment for the remaining portion of the contracted minimum service period.1

Have you checked this? Your husband would almost certainly have received a confirmation email at the time of signing up. What does it say he signed up to, and under what terms?Case_Closed said:My husband signed up to DAZN to watch the Katie Taylor fight for what he thought was a one off payment of 10.99. They don’t seem to offer one off payments as an option. Are there any queries about your husbands ability to manage his finances because otherwise I’m not seeing much relevance with regard to his Parkinsons, given the option to do seem to be quite clear. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Sadly this makes no difference as they will not be aware of this when he signed up or at any point afterwards.Case_Closed said:My husband signed up to DAZN to watch the Katie Taylor fight for what he thought was a one off payment of 10.99. As @eskbanker you could contact bank on this, but if you try to reclaim funds & it is a 12 month contract they could reject on that basis & you would be redebited.
Just looked at their terms of use & it only covers Non Subscribers, helpful. So guess subscriber T/C must be in user area's.Life in the slow lane0 -

A health diagnosis does not give carte blanche to get out of contracts.Case_Closed said:Yes, I realise that. My question was what happens if I don’t pay? I feel it wasn’t made clear when he signed up. Also feel they should waive the n payments due to aforementioned vulnerability.
In what way do you feel your husband's diagnosis impacted on his decision making ability? And if he is unable to read and understand contracts, does he need support to manage his finances?
