Installed the app through MSE link - fingers crossed. Deposited £500.
Can anybody explain me how DDs work here? The deposit was made via Open Banking and there is no any signs of a new DD in my linked bank account.
Th MSE link doesn't mention anything about a direct debit. Other savings apps using read only open banking set up a separate continuous payment authority on the associated debit card of the linked account to pull autosave payments.

I didn't say it did. Other forum members mentioned Plum in this context. E.g. in the new Nationwide switch bonus thread.

Tap 'Brain' on the Plum App and you'll be able to set up  Weekly or PayDay deposits both of which are done by DD. I'd also advise turning off Automatic as this prevents Plum from deciding what it thinks you should save.

Oh, well if you are intending to use this account to bag a different incentive as well then fair enough.
  • Well I've installed the app and loaded up £500 to the 3.51 pocket (seems to be pending w/a date of tomorrow, Monday).

Now just to make sure I've turned off all the clever, helpful, AI-driven functionality that empties your current account for you. I'm assuming that you can't just unlink your account once the cash has been loaded? I'll go check the T&Cs.

Set a calendar entry for 6mths 10days time.

Perhaps a good account to link would be one you normally maintain a zero balance anyway.

Less than a tenner, so close.

I've eyeballed the T&Cs (there are a lot of them) and it does seem to me that an Open Banking connection to your "current account" is required to use the Plum facilities. Be interesting to see what happens when the connection expires in 90 days.

Suspect they will just nag you to renew it, which you may as well do if they haven't misbehaved in the first 90 days.

Does anyone know how to turn off all marketing notifications from Plum? I have turned off all notifications in the app, yet still get daily messages about stuff I am not interested in.

I have already unsubscribed from their mailing list as I got an unwanted email every day since I took up this offer. This has not had any effect on the daily notifications from the app.

I'm letting them have free reign for a week or so in case I've missed some bit of setting up the savings "pocket" to leave it alone for six months, it's not the easiest thing to manage.

After that my phone allows me to restrict notifications from an individual app.
