  • Thankfully they have started to sort it, which is good. I didn't get any tax back from my car swap but did get all the docs through so I know it's gone through OK. X

Was yours the £35 a year tax as you don't for that, mine was the £180 for the year. Either way it's good to know that my old car is sorted at least anyway. Hopefully it also means I get my new v5 soon.

  • Hi Sarah, I've just caught up on your diary! Congratulations on the new car! Just wanted to say don't be too hard on yourself, a coffee here and there are some of life's little treats. You're doing amazing running a house, particularly on one wage!

So interested to hear how the injections go, I've toyed with the idea but tbh it's out of my price range at the moment and I could do more to lose weight. I struggle with energy with 2 little ones and find myself snacking for energy.
Debt Free as of December 2020 👏

MFW - 40 months shaved off the mortgage

No, it was the £180, but it had less than a month left, so that might be why x

You only get full months refunded when you sell a car, so you've paid for say September, you sell it and the person b buying it also has to pay for September so DVLA get double tax for the month!  Certainly works in their favour not yours!
  • Yep you are correct its only full months and it's from when they are notified. Even though the new owner had taxed it so they got double payment for 3 months.

Thanks, I don't mind letting myself having odd coffee but I need to learn to stick to one a week.

It is difficult managing on one wage, although some things are reduced as you live alone not everything is.

There is probably more I could do as well to lose weight but the injections make these things easier to do. It makes resisting the everyday temptation of quick snacks and sugar boost much easier.

  • Also catching up and I've twigged your overpayment pots, there was me thinking surely you just overpay to get the balance on 0% cards down before the interest kicks in but obviously paying the minimum and then saving the balance in an interest bearing account makes more sense! I am wondering if I am as disciplined but I think not plus one of my 0% cards runs out in 2 months so never going to save that. I have just revised the other to minimum payment to clear more of that for the next few months.

    July 2024 £12,150  Apr 26 H/fax £3,075, B/Card £4,446, Lyds £1,407, payin3 £642, Very £46 Total £9,616 back in the right direction this month!

Yes sort of. I rounded up minimum payment to nearest £5, then put that as a fixed amount. Makes it easier to track how much will be required to clear by end of 0% virgin is set at £50 and Natwest at £25.

I've now saved the missing for Virgin and locked my savings pot on monzo so I'm not so tempted to take it out before July. Natwest pot will require £70 p/m in it to clear by end of 0% in December. Should be very doable. Especially as I don't have anything major coming out of my sinking fund except Xmas presents until May/June time. So unless anything unplanned happens I should have more free money to pay into it. I'm trying to save for my weight loss injections by rounding up, sales on vinted and any vouchers I use.
