2 x 50" Tvs Under £700 - NEXT SALE

  • The LG looks a good price at £700 (if you can get one), I can't find it anywhere else as cheap as that listed at the moment in well known stores, pre sales (see povemeister post).

The only (slight) downside I can see is that it isn't 1080p (1920x1080) but does have a very good contrast ratio of 15000:1.

I know all the arguements for and against 1080p but I personally think it's worth the extra money as I have looked at lots of 50" plasma's instore and to me the 1080p's just look that much clearer/sharper.

If anyone spots any good 1080p 50" plasma bargains in the sales perhaps they could post them here also?

  • Those who want the 50" LG model, i was looking at this website the other day who have got them for just £604 + vat = £709 inc vat

yeh, im prob getting a 40in sony 1080p - but only because my plan is to have a blueray or hd-dvd player - i have an xbox360 - i dont have sky hd, just virginmedia xl - its a waste of time for standard def anyway

i have to say tho, that my 8 year old 32 inch quintex 100hz tv has a picture which miles better than any lcd or plasma ive seen, tho part of the problem is the shops dont set them up properly or they are running an fancy looking, marketing disk (if they are running a marketign disk, just ask them to put it on std def for a true PQ (though this again depends on their setup)

Certainly in standard def and as for live footy on lcds - oh dear...even with all the latest lcd's - im not into blur-o-vision

  • I had a VIP slot yesterday and need a decent tv for good size living room. Bottled going for the 50" but then wished I had gone for it. Just rang Next and the 50" has now sold out. Had another look at what's in the sale and rang again asked if the 40" Sony Bravia S Series is available (would be better size if being realistic). It's in stock but she said it was £1049.00 (full price) seems to be £1249 in catalogue so not sure what it is. I said it was £630 in the sale and after checking she came back and said I could have it at sale price. I am not very tv savvy and thought this make was reputable. We have normal sky and play wii games and watch dvd's. Does anyone think this is a good buy?

You're probably better with an LCD if you are into games. As for whether the price is good for the Sony it depends what model it is... I can't be bothered to search the Next site to find which model you are talking about. A quick search on Google may help you.
