  • Just in case anyone is confused, the Sony IS a rear projection set. It is an LCD set rather than DLP, but it is rear projection. I have a 42 " sony rear projection, and I have not seen an LCD or Plasma to beat it! The only thing is you cant wall mount it as it is about 30cm deep.

The LG seems to be £1400 when I search, am I doing something wrong?

It's a plasma. Good luck with those onscreen DOGs ;)

Dont talk poop, ive had my Panny plasma for nearly a year without problems and its often left on the news channels for hours on end :D
  • According to my online VIP access thing, the LG 50" is non-existent... maybe it's sold out already? (I'm not really sure how this VIP thing works).

The Sony TV is still listed, though.

I wouldn't bother with the Sony. It is a good tv in itself, but you can get better, more up to date models for the same price.

Also, be aware that because it is rear projection, it is massive. I have a good size lounge and have the equivalent 36 inch model and it would look silly in a smaller lounge. A friend has the 50 inch and it just takes over the room.

I think the message should be that size isn't everything (even with boys toys!), and all because something is in the sale it does not mean that it is a bargain.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • i managed to order the lg last night in my 18.00-18.30 slot. very nice

  • Those who want the 50" LG model, i was looking at this website the other day who have got them for just £604 + vat = £709 inc vat
