I don't think anyone is yet sure what Octopus will do with the broadband customers as they don't provide broadband - they may transfer it to one of the average providers like plusnet or <shudder> talktalk.I have just (today) received an email from Shell Energy Broadband to tell me they are now owned by Octopus Energy. It goes something like this:Hello QrizB,
Yesterday, Octopus purchased Shell Energy’s home energy & broadband business. You’re in safe hands. Shell Energy will keep looking after you as normal, and nothing will change for now.
What does that mean for you?
Your broadband and phone service will continue exactly as it is now, with no interruptions. If anything changes in the future, we’ll get in touch again with all the information you need.
■ Your broadband and phone will operate as usual, with your existing router.
■ There’ll be no change to your service including the price you pay. You’ll be able to use your Shell Energy Broadband account just as you have up to now.
■ If you need anything, simply contact Shell Energy Broadband as usual. You’ll be supported by the same dedicated team, and you’ll get bills and communications from them the same way you always have.
■ You can continue using your preferred payment method, which includes over the counter in Post Office branches or Payzone stores. If you pay by Direct Debit, there’s no need to cancel it.
■ If you're worried about paying your bills, Shell Energy Broadband has extra support available.0 -

If you’ve not done it already, it can also be worth approaching Shell Energy Home UK on FB Messenger as they have to give the ok to get the cashback processed. Might have been a coincidence but when I got a message back from them saying it had been authorised, which I then forwarded to the Cashback providers, (BroadbandChoices), I got the immediate reply that it was being sent!0

To complete my Shell giftcard story - I received an email from giftcloud today, clicked through to an Amazon voucher code, and redeemed it at Amazon for £110. Exactly as advertised, just a couple of months late and missed my Christmas shopping splurge!
