E.on Next's Pledge tariff costs £50 less than the Energy Price Cap – should you switch?

E.on Next has launched an energy deal for existing customers that tracks the Price Cap for a year but with a discount of around 3% – so for someone on that mythical ‘typical use’ the discount is around £50 a year. That makes it currently one of the cheapest tariffs available. However, as the Price Cap changes, so too will this 'Next Pledge' tariff and this means prices could go up, as well as down – though it will always be cheaper than the Price Cap.

With Eon next's extremely poor customer service. The question is for £50 is it worth it?

I signed up for the Eon Next Pledge last month as there are no Exit Fees and just cheaper than everywhere else for me. I'm on V1 - whether there is now a later version WITH exit fees I don't know. I was going to wait and see how things went until the next reduction in Price Cap in October and other companies may also be adjusting their fees and offering more to the public. I'll do another comparison early next month to see what's happening. SO Energy may have slightly cheaper unit rates but there's a hefty exit fee in comparison. I have been thinking about moving back to Octopus (who I was with prior to Eon) but will wait again until possibly early next year on that as want to see how things go with them and Shell.

While you have been away from Octopus they now charge £75 per fuel exit fees on 12 month standard fixed rate tariffs.

The new NextPledge, as mentioned in the op, does have exit fees, the earlier version was fee free.  It is the usual non specific fee though unlike some of the fixed tariffs that specifically state change of both supplier and tariff.

Seconded - IME (as someone who regularly switches supplier based on price) Eon have the second worst costumer service I've experienced. UW were the worst.

They would have to be at least £200 cheaper, plus no exit fees, for it to be worth the risk of having to go through their complaints process again.

On paper I an with Sainsbury's Energy but this is really EonNext ("Sainsbury's Energy is a trading name used under license by E.ON Next Energy Limited") but I cannot opt for this tariff. Why not?

Why not get a referral code from a current Eon Next customer and get £50 for switching and then get the tariff.

Unless Sainsbury's to Eon Next don't get the reward?

I'm with Eon I'm wondering if I should go onto this tarrif. I'm currently on the NextFlex tarrif.

Anyone on Next Flex tariff would save by changing to pledge tariff, how much is saved depends on usage, v2 has £25 per fuel exit fees whereas v1 did not have exit fees.

Cheers is it best to wait for October 1st or change tarrif now?
