Easy PAYG for elderly relative
Hi,
An elderly relative wants an easy to use mobile phone on a pay as you go contract. I got a Doro phone and am now looking to get a PAYG sim card but I'm struggling a bit so any help grateful received!
They don't need data and as they wouldn't use it that much (its mainly in case they need help when out and about) ideally the credit should roll over each month until used. Every contract that I've seen so far seems to be a bundle that you need to renew monthly.
Any PAYG options that you can recommend? Thanks in advance

Assuming that the EE signal is OK where the phone will most often be, £36 for 1 year unlimited calls/texts

In Laws have Doro phones with 'Orange' PAYG sims in.They top up with a fiver every few months and as long as they use it occasionally it doesn't expire.These 'old fashioned' PAYG deals take some finding though sadly!0

you can buy an EE SIM with a recurring monthly bundle eg £10 a month
you then send a text to 150 saying 'stop bundle' and that will switch you to normal pay as you go rates1 -
!
Rates are 5p per min/text.

Can topup online;

By calling 669 with a debit or credit card, or a nowmobile voucher.

If they use the phones a fair bit you might want to consider 1pmobile. Costs are cheaper at 1p bur you WILL be disconnected if you don't topup £10 every 120 days. You can topup £30 for a year, every time you topup £10 it extends your service by 120 days.

For peace of mind, with someone ( *not necessarily elderly*) who might forget to use it and then it not being available when they need it. It can be worthwhile getting one of the smaller bundles.
£2/£3 a month will cover all their texts, minutes and any accidental data.
It's not the cheapest option but for peace of mind it's worth knowing that things are sorted.2 -

For example, if you take out one of the MSE deals 99p a month then £5 a month, over the year it works out to £3 a month0
