Unless your diabetic, then you get free eye test at any age as it can affect the eyes as well as the feet.

Trying to live within my means:j7 -
Its a good few years since I hit 60 and I remember that I decided that I would go for anything that was available. Sadly by then I was widowed so it was even more important to make use of every loyalty/advantage card and discount going . I do spend £10.00 a year for my Dobbies loyalty card but for that I get two hot drinks the/coffee or even a luxury chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows which would normally cost around £3.75 a pop, so I more than get a good return for the ten pounds a year ,plus when its your birthday you get a double hot drinks and a double cake of your choice as a present. ( a treat for myself and There are also discounts on gardening stuff and vouchers ever month for discounts on children's books and toys and Christmas stuff and seeds etc. There is a Waitrose concession food hall in there as well, and anything you buy you get points which add up to money off vouchers .So I think its ten pounds well spent once a year.
I have I think every loyalty card for all the local supermarkets and stores and if Tesco price match stuff from Aldi's across the road I go to Tesco for my points. The more discounts you can find the better it is I do a YouGov survey that you get 50 points for each survey done, and it takes about 10 months to accrue 5000 points but you get a £50,00 payout for each 5000 points It only takes about 12-15 minutes to do the survey so its an extra little £50.00 to stash away towards Christmas stuff .
Boots card is good as well as usually get my glasses from there and the points soon mount up. I even have a Chase account that pays 4.1% per month on savings, and on the currant Chase account pays interest on stuff you buy so better than the ordinary bank debit card.
Although I still keep my normal back account for DD etc. I make every penny I spend work for me if I can either by loyalty cards and points or with cash back. If I add them all up over a year to me its free cash which I would be spending anyway. As is said every little helps and no matter if its only a few pounds its better in your purse than someone else's

JackieO - like you I have the Dobbies card. It means that DH and I actually get out for a coffee/chocolate once a month which is more frequently than we used to be able to do anything like that. It has however gone up to £12 for the year, not sure when that was but we got our card around July so sometime earlier this year. Not had any vouchers we can make use of yet as only have a very small garden and all our vouchers have been for much bigger spends than we make in one go!
I have loyalty cards for the SMs which I use - Tesco, Morrisons and Lidl. Morrisons isn't as good as it used to be as seems to take a very long time to get the points needed for a fiver! Tesco rewards again not as good as they used to be with the points only being worth twice rather than the 3 times (and previously 4 times) value they used to be. Lidl is the only one which hasn't changed recently and you get a chance of winning something every time you shop.

I took a couple of minutes to investigate whether there are any new Dobbies sites that would make it worth investing in the card. As suspected, my nearest remain in Kent and there are plenty of garden centres in Essex.
However.....recently I bought a large latte from a Starbucks (M25 Cobham services) it cost £4.15, and that was using my BlueLight discount (10%). I do plan to be out and about over England in the next 12 months so I think it will be well worth investing in. If nothing else it will make sure I make the most of my weekends (at least once a month!!) and offer a pleasant pit-stop!

Unfortunately there are no local Dobbies to me however i do have a couple of loyal cards for the two closest gardens centres Hilliers which is within walking distances and one which now comes under the Blue Diamond banner. As well as discounts on some items the Hilliers does usually provide a voucher for free cake once a quarter and the occasional BOF on cream teas during the summer as well as money off vouchers if you spend enough, they only have a small farmshop but it does have a good butcher not necessary the cheapest meat but it is local meat.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin7
