  • well thanks to the people who are genuinely trying to help me, i have to say though the nasty vicious people who have nothing better to do than slag me off have completely ruined my christmas. i simply asked for some help at a time where i cannot cope with my life and you think it is ok to make me feel bad for that. its people like you that actually do make people like me feel worse abouth themselves. DO YOU THINK I ENJOY BEING THIS WAY?????i do suffer very badly and at my worst times my husband has to lock all the knives and pills away as i become a danger to myself. yes i have asked about working from home before but as i cannot go outside my door without someone there or cannot answer phone calls i am not able to do this kind of work. . if someone could offer me a work from home job where all i had to do was type things on a pc where i can cry to my hearts content when it all gets too much and work completely flexible hours to allow for the fact that i am too scared in my own house to sleep at night so generally only get about 2 hours then sometimes fall asleep in the day . then great but sadly there is nothing like thati cannot believe that someone on here would think that i am trying to scam the benefit system, my husband works 2 full time jobs (both on minimum wage) while also studying , all we are trying to do is to get some extra money to help with basic things like paying for my prescriptions and various hospital car park charges when i go to the hospital on a weekly basis ( i also suffer from sjoergrens syndrome) well again thanks to the people helping me and as for the rest please try to understand noone asks to be mentally ill it is a chemical imbalance in your brain that causes it. if you still dont understand it then speak to a medical professional, dont be so quick to judge before you know all the facts.

Patchy - do you not get help to pay for your prescriptions? I need regular medication and although I don't get any benefits to help pay for them, I have got a pre-pay certificate. It cost me about £93 for the year and I use it when I take my prescriptions to the chemist - it sure beats paying for every single item on the prescription which I understand can be extiortionately expensive these days.

Sorry to hear that you have had a bad Christmas - it doesn't pay to 'listen' to the doubters on here so try not to fret over them because what they have to say isnt important. Here's hoping 2008 will be a better year for you.

    Regards

  • i do buy a prepayment cert yes but it still is money we cannot really afford to spend. the hospital car park costs really add up too plus as i am unable to go outside we need to heat the house more as the cold can aggravate the sjoergrens .thankyou so much for your kind words, i never expected people to be so nasty or i would have waited till after christmas to ask for help.

  • Before or after Christmas would have made little difference to the vitriol spewed forth on this site regarding 'benefit claimants'.

Pick out the good advice, ignore the rest.
I emphasise with your situation & wish you well!
Enjoy the rest of Boxing Day & have as best as possible New Year.

  • thankyou too, its nice to know some people can be nice. i can only take comfort in the saying, what goes around comes around, i hope one day these nasty people need advice and get slated for it.

  • Patchy hang in there kid. There are Hitlers around everywhere. Ignoramus is the only word for them. If they have not suffered as you have then they should read a da-mn book about mental illness. You only have to read Winston Churchill's books to realise about the the dogs that hound you when you are ill. Those childish oafs are not worth worrying over.
Can you get a social worker to advocate for you, a doctor to call disability living allowance? If you could get it it would be such a help as you can get mobility allowance too.
I thank God that my partner; who has Parkinson's; has disability living allowance. It means so much and makes our life comparatively comfortable.Yes and even the dsability sticker for your car so you can park in disabled spots and not pay and park on yellow lines if need be to be closer to where you are going.
Numbskulls they are not worth worrying over or fretting about. This is what they want to do to upset people. Did you see what that Robbie was saying to me about me being Welsh. Saying that says it all BAAAAAAAAAAAAA. What a jerk he is.
You just keep trying and ask for a tribunal but insist that they have to come to your house as you cannot go out and meet strange people in that enviroment. There must be something out there and someone who can help you. Have you contacted some mental health groups to see if there is someone that can advocate your case? We are here to help you in any way we can. There but for the grace of God go I. Hope you have a happy new year and get your DLA.. Don't give up ok keep trying. Take care and we care. Taffy

There are certain posters on here who will always come out with the same old stuff about benefit claimants despite the rules clearly stating this board is about helping people with their entitlement, not debating welfare legislation.

They are best ignored and definitely don't let them ruin your day.

As for the suggestion you may be trying to commit benefit fraud - for all we know the 'benefit bashers' may be doing this themselves! You have to ask why people with such a dislike of benefit claimants would want to read this board don't you?

Anyway, just wanted to wish you good luck with your claim,
