What the f#ck is the troll comment about ? surely a valid question to someone who has "anxiety" and doesnt like meeting people ? For 30 years I have felt anxious and hate meeting people, but I get on with it.

My point to the Op is why turn to benefits and live the life of a hermit when they can clearly turn on a computer and communicate ? why not use it to benefit themselves rather then turn to benefits ? jeez a valid question but obviously not Pc huggy care bear enough. Why wrap people in cotton wool, you get out what you put in.

Maybe I should start "Big big Hugs, your in my prayers ? have you ever considered a computer " there how was that !

They're out in force tonight ...
you would appear to have no physical reason to claim money out of the system

Is there a reason why a condition must be physical in order to be eligible for benefits?
For 30 years I have felt anxious and hate meeting people, but I get on with it.

There is a huge difference between feeling anxious, and having a MH condition. Most people feel anxious at times, but they would not be medically diagnosed as having Anxiety/ Social Phobia, and the condition would not affect them to the point of requiring a support worker.

Your comments are at best, naive, and at worst, intended to cause upset to the OP.
    Gone ... or have I?

The OP has depression, that certainly comes across as being quite serious.

Do you think that telling someone with such a condition just to 'move on' is in any way constructive?

Why should it be a turning point in their life? They are ill, the difficulties in claiming their entitlement will add to their condition, not enable them to move on.

I hope you never have the misfortune to suffer from mental illness.

patchy, please ignore the troll. You know that the majority of people on here understand your situation. Please do not be put off posting further, but if you do not want to, feel free to PM me. Take care x
how do you know the op is suffering from depression. You dont do you.
The op may be a benefit cheat seeking advice on how to play the system.how do you know if the majority of people "on here" understand the situation. You dont do you?
I would guess that most feel the opposite and have grown disolusioned
with the opinions of you and people like you.this country is not a bottomless pit of cash,
  • just because some one can turn on a computer and talk to people doesn't mean that they could deal with tallking to people face to face and work. Computers can be actually a life line to some people who are depressed i know that my computer was last year when i was servely depressed and speaking to people helped me get through it and kept me alive. Im sure that people with depression would rather not have it and be able to go out to work. No one asks to get depression and nor do they bring it on themselves. I wouldn't wish depression on anyone it is horrible. I would appeal against the decsion op

  • here here dmg, also major depression causes a huge lack of concentration and organizational skills. People cant read for large periods of times and sometimes they can not even cope with getting up. If the other person could work I am sure she would. Why do people think that others claiming benefits would be better off working when they have no idea how incapacitated the other person is? Also people suffering like this have huge bouts of sleepiness, sleeplessness and cannot do things in an everyday fashion like so called "normal" people do. Taffy
  • When you have depression there are times you can't even face getting out of bed so how are you suppose to work, and answering the phone can be hard too. I find your comments not nice robby. Have you ever suffered from mh your self

  • So why when I suggest working form home is it akin to devil worship yet you concede Your suggestion of working from home may or may not be suitable for the OP. And why is it ignorant to suggest it. Your suggestion that few people choose to claim benefits ? where are these facts and figures from?

This OP has clearly the ability to work from home on a computer based project and you would encourage them to turn to benefits, close the curtains and live like a hermit? Dont see any useful contribution from your self except, big hugs and kisses, your in my prayers.

As another poster has said you need to be able to consantrate when working and when you have depression a lot of the time you can't do this for long periods, how do you think that the op is going to get a job she would have to spend a lot of time looking and have to speak to people.
