Why not look at working ?
Possibly working from home, retrain and make something of it, you would appear to have no physical reason to claim money out of the system and no reason why you cannot retrain to work form home or is there something which stops you doing this. You can clearly use a computer and there is work available from home doing this kind of work.0 -
I would accept the decision and move on.it may be a turning point in your life,it should be.Move onhi guys, i really need some help, i have applied for DLA back in october, i suffer with depression, anxiety and social phobia. i got rejected on the first application so my support worker helped me write a letter explaining in detail how these conditions stop me from living a normal life. Today i got another letter saying my application to have the claim looked at again has been rejected. what i would like to know is if there is anything i can do now ???0 -
rubbish Robby you do not know what this person suffers from. Write to them for an appeal and tell them exactly what you just told us that the thought of that would just about do you in. Tell them that is just the problem that you cannot meet with large groups of people and you cannot interact with them.
I went to a tribunal appeal with my son in Canada and I had to say horrible things about his memory and lack of and his reading skills or lack of etc. All the things I had never said to him as a boy growing up and struggling with school. Nevertheless it worked and he got the Canadian equivilant of DLA and it did help him through a bad patch.
Hang in there and get all the help that you can. I am trying to get it for a neighbour of mine who is developmentally delayed and is afraid to be out on the streets because people jeer at her and call her stupid. She caught a taxi on bonfire night from the train station to her house and it must be 3 streets away - small streets, because she was terrified of all the people out on the streets. Emphasise that you need someone with you when you are out because of your illness. Good luck Taffy.0 -

The OP has depression, that certainly comes across as being quite serious.
Do you think that telling someone with such a condition just to 'move on' is in any way constructive?
Why should it be a turning point in their life? They are ill, the difficulties in claiming their entitlement will add to their condition, not enable them to move on.
I hope you never have the misfortune to suffer from mental illness.
patchy, please ignore the troll. You know that the majority of people on here understand your situation. Please do not be put off posting further, but if you do not want to, feel free to PM me. Take care xGone ... or have I?0 -

What the f#ck is the troll comment about ? surely a valid question to someone who has "anxiety" and doesnt like meeting people ? For 30 years I have felt anxious and hate meeting people, but I get on with it.
My point to the Op is why turn to benefits and live the life of a hermit when they can clearly turn on a computer and communicate ? why not use it to benefit themselves rather then turn to benefits ? jeez a valid question but obviously not Pc huggy care bear enough. Why wrap people in cotton wool, you get out what you put in.
Maybe I should start "Big big Hugs, your in my prayers ? have you ever considered a computer " there how was that ! :eek:0 -

The ignorance of some people never ceases to amaze me.
If you had experience of MH issues, either personally or through friends or family, you would understand that such conditions can have a massive effect on a person's physical ability.
Your suggestion of working from home may or may not be suitable for the OP. However, one possible symptom/ consequence of depression, and in particular social phobia, is the inability to communicate by telephone. As most computer based/ work from home jobs also require telephony skills, this eliminates them from possible opportunities for the OP.
Very few people choose to claim benefits. Without knowing the OP personally, I would imagine that they would much rather be in gainful employment than living with a debilitating condition.Gone ... or have I?0 -

I think you may be overlooking the effects of depression when you suggest this?0
